The Heroine’s Journey of Valeriya N-Georg

What is the best thing that I love about my work?

I am truly happy that my work is giving me the freedom to express myself and to be me and only me! I really love it!

What is my idea of perfect happiness?

Perfect happiness to me is when you look within yourself and realize that you are LOVE, and you go on to live and enjoy every moment of your life without inhibitions. When one realizes that happiness is in their own hands and is able to be present in the moment to cherish every minute of their lives. We are Love and Light!

What is my greatest fear?

I don’t think that I have one.

Fear is an illusion. When people understand this, is when they can be truly happy.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?

The tendency to underestimate myself.

Which living persons in my profession do I most admire?

James Turrell is one of the people I most admire. His luminous and immersive installations which engage the viewer to meditate and gain a new understanding of the materiality of light, colour and space, where we become aware of our own senses.

And Bill Viola – one of the most amazing in my opinion, contemporary video artists. I admire his use of innovative technology, video, sound and water exploring the phenomena of sense perception as a new means of self-discovery, as well as, his focus on universal human experiences such as birth, death, dreams and the unfolding of human consciousness.

What is my greatest extravagance?

Art materials, travel and my car!

On what occasion would I lie?

I always try to speak the truth, both through my work and in my personal interactions with people. I occasionally hold back, when I feel like silence is better left to do its job. But if there is a need of a response and it depends on my answer and this is could be done to help protect someone, then I would only say half of the truth, only to try and navigate this person to something better.

Once in my life, I have lied, and I still deeply regret it.

It is always better to say the truth and be at peace with your inner self.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?

I don’t think that I dislike anything about my work.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work?

I remember feeling the happiest almost two years ago, after completing an artwork in my Woolwich studio.

If I could, what would I change about myself?

Nothing! I don’t want to change anything about myself.

Oh…well… to be honest really, if I could, I would get rid of the deepest vertical wrinkle between my eyebrows.

What is my greatest achievement in work?

The greatest achievement in work is when I am satisfied with the how my work has come out. And often this lies in the process of creation, the unfolding of every step towards the completion of something new – that is my biggest gratification.

Where would I most like to live?

I enjoy living in London, but I also love a warmer climate – so that means anywhere where there is more sun! I love the summer – the sun is vital for my existence.

What is my most treasured possession?

I don’t know, really. If my pet qualifies – then definitely my cat!

What is my most marked characteristic?

A strong and sentient woman, who can feel and read the energies of myself and others. An empath and a spiritually evolved individual, who has the ability to channel creativity that comes from the universe. (One of my friends says that about me)

What is my most inspirational location, in my city?

My garden.

What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city?

It doesn’t matter really as long as I am with my best friends.

What books influenced my life and how?

Big topic! I can speak a lot here, but I will mention just two briefly.

Antonio Damasio’s books ‘Self Comes to Mind’ and ‘The Feeling of What Happens’. I understood how the feelings of emotion can influence the body state. Emotions provide us with survival-oriented behaviors, which impact us deeply on an internal level. The overall experience of feeling when there is a shift in consciousness changes the chemistry in the body through the neural system following significant activity in the brain. What we think is what we create in our lives and this can automatically affect the chemistry of our physical bodies and heal illnesses that are considered incurable in the world of medicine.

The Biology of Belief: Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, Matter & Miracles – Bruce Lipton – the renowned cell biologist, describes the precise molecular pathways and the new scientific discoveries show us that how far-reaching our thoughts are in terms of well-being – all the cells of our body are affected by the signals elicited by our brainThis enabled me to understand a deeper link between mind and matter.

Who are my favourite writers?

Stephen King, Tadeusz Dołęga-Mostowicz, Jane Austen, John Grisham

To name few – the powerful Marina Abramovich, video and installation artist Bill Viola, James Turrell – the artist working with light and space, the filmmaker David Lynch and also the very contemporary music creator, singer and performer Lady GaGa. But I cannot stop here. I also would like to meet Bob Marley, Russel Brand, the magician David Blaine, the mysterious singer Sia, Gerhard Richter, Anselm Kiefer, Susan Hiller, Eminem, the boys from Coldplay … the list could go on and on, of course.

What project, in 2019, am I looking forward to work on?

I am planning a huge work (in terms of size). Not quite sure that now is the right time to reveal this project to the public. I prefer to keep it under wraps for now so that I am able surprise my audience when the piece is ready.

Where can you see me or my work?
