The Heroine’s Journey of Marie Louise Denti

What is the best thing that I love about my work?

Hi! My name is Marie Louise Denti and I’m a presentation designer and speaker coach for executives. I think that good communication makes for a better way to work. I love making a change in the communication between companies, executives and coworkers.

What is my idea of happiness?

I like walking and exploring the world, near or far landscapes. I live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, Italy, big mountains and deep blue seas. So a sunny day outdoors with my family (my husband and my daughter) hiking in the woods or on the beach is my idea of happiness.

What is my greatest fear?

Oh! In this period there is Coronavirus crisis so I often think about the health of my loved ones and mine.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?

I’m a hardworking person. I think about a lot of things so sometimes I am stressed because fo work and every now and then I am distracted with my family.

Which living persons in my profession do I most admire?

I admire Nancy Duarte because she is a woman and a pioneer in my field. I think she is very powerful 🙂 I also love the work of Olimpia Zagnoli, an excellent Italian illustrator.

What is my greatest extravagance?

I’m full of life, so I live my life and my work fully. Every new project is a challenge and I live it with passion. I design the future of each client with him side by side. His fears become my fears, his goals become my goals as a coach during the Olympics.

On what occasion would I lie?

I’m very clear and I don’t think lying is the solution to the problem in business or at home: transparent communication is the way to solve problems.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?

I dislike talking about money, pricing and so on. It’s so hard for me, I need an agent, like a star 🙂

When and where was I the happiest, in my work?

Everytime when an executive or an influencer gets on stage with my talk and he has the audience in hand I’m the happiest. The last time I felt this was at 9Muse Milano, when Elena Bobbola, Laura Formenti and I coached 9 powerful women to go on stage and talk about their personal stories.

If I could, what would I change about myself?

Nothing. I don’t want to sound arrogant but I am very aware of being the result of the choices I have made. I am a serene and happy person in her life.

What is my greatest achievement in work?

Good relationships with partners, customers and colleagues and my own brand. Slide Queen is a project about slide design born from Elena Bobbola and I. After three years I can say that … it works!

Where would I most like to live?

I’m living in Italy (in Biella) but my husband works in London so I travel a lot between Italy and UK. This year we are thinking of moving to London with the whole family and I’m very excited by this idea. My secret wish is, when I grow up, I would like to live by the Mediterranean sea.

What is my most treasured possession?

A well-stocked beauty case because skin-care first 🙂

What is my most marked characteristic?

I have already mentioned this before. I’m really full of life and I like throwing myself headlong into life or work projects.

What is my most inspirational location, in my city?

Biella is a very beautiful town and there are many places that I love to visit/to go to, but my favourite one is Gorgomoro path, a wildness walk in the woods in the high zone of the town.

My mother is French and in Biella there is an amazing restaurant Creperie Blé Noir where I can taste the flavors of my childhood.

I’m really a book lover and the answer is very difficult, indeed I think that one book that influenced my life has been Meditations by Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, the warrior philosopher.

You Only Die Once. What music would I listen to on my last day?

Čajkovski’s music is my favourite and it’s what I would want to listen to on my last day. On Sundays, when I cook creative recipes I love listening to The Swan Lake by Pëtr Il’ič Čajkovskij.

Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?

Alicia Florrick, the protagonist of The Good Wife.

Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind, an animated film directed and co-written by Hayao Miyazaki.

For me, art is fundamental. I have a daily dialogue with her during my work. Marc Rothko’s colors, Cezanne’s shapes and Titian’s brushwork accompany me during every phase of the visual design of a speech.
