What is the best thing that I love about my work?
Freedom, creativity, the opportunity to meet many men, women and children, listen to stories and receive people’s trust. Also be useful to someone or to a cause, also trying to change things by writing and speaking.
What is my idea of happiness?
Happiness is inner peace. Fullness. Feel like doing the right thing. Being true to myself by following my own path and feeling in harmony. Happiness is an embrace, a laugh, being free to be myself!
What is my greatest fear?
Fear is an opportunity because fear keeps me alert.
My biggest fear is about my family: I wouldn’t want to see them suffer. But I know that our life is a path studded with unexpected events and we can only prepare ourselves to face them with strength and awareness. In general, I think everything is an opportunity to change and grow.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?
I should believe more in my life. Sometimes I forget to take care of myself just because I would like to be in several places at the same time doing incredible things with many people I know; around Italy or far from my country.
Which living persons in my profession do i most admire?
I love the job of Domenico Iannacone, an italian journalist. His program “I dieci comandamenti” and “Che ci faccio qui” (Rai) are exactly the kind of journalism I like, because it shows the whole aspect of news without making sensationalist journalism. He likes stories. Like me.
What is my greatest extravagance?
What’s an extravagance for me is normal for somebody else. And the other way around.
On what occasion would I lie?
Only for job, if I was with a member of the mafia, or if I was in a place where people sell drugs.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?
When someone does not understand that a project is very important and does not guess the news. In our work we are like a truffle dog. And it is very important to rely on a publisher or boss who has the same feeling!
When and where was I the happiest, in my work?
When I wrote my first book with an important publishing house! I was at home and received a package with my books. A book is like a child for a writer!
If I could, what would I change about myself?
I would like to have my own family.
What is my greatest achievement in work?
The next one: what is yet to come.
Where would I most like to live?
In Rome, where I live, but definetly in a place with more trees. I love nature and I need to be in a quiet place full of plants to write better! This is my next step …
What is my most treasured possession?
My heart! It is the greatest treasure for everyone … but a lot of people doesn’t know.
What is my most marked characteristic?
Great determination, honesty, joy of living, enthusiasm!
What is my most inspirational location, in my city?
Definetly my house! But I can write when I’m on the subway or when I’m in a bar… If you like writing, each place could be the right one!
What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city?
I like a bar in the center of Rome where I can eat and drink. It is close to the Spanish Steps, but in a narrow street. Sometimes I stay here with my personal computer. I have the wifi password and I can work waiting for my friends or nobody!
What books influenced my life and how?
I loved “Un uomo” of Oriana Fallaci. It is a romance but it comes from a true story: the story of Oriana Fallaci with the Greek hero Alekos Pangulis. It is full of love and passion. And pain. When I read it I felt like her!
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?
A meditation music. I love it.
But I can listen classical music and rock in the same day!
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?
Two days ago I saw a beautiful series on Netflix: Unorthodox. I thought the protagonist was a real-life heroine. Because in the end the fiction tells a true story.
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?
The word hero authorizes us to do nothing. Because “hero” is a great, wonderful person, far from me and my possibilities. So in my opinion there are no heroes but instead there are very special people who do things that would guide us! Everyone can do everything if we wish. In real life in my opinion at this moment a very special person is Nicola Gratteri, an anti-mafia judge.
Which movie would I recommend to see once in a lifetime?
“La vita è bella!” directed by Roberto Benigni
What role plays art in my life and work?
Art opens the mind and opens the door to our imagination. It makes us rich. When I can, I like to visit the museum or exhibition.
What do the words ‘You are the storyteller of your own life’ to me?
I’m the storyteller of my life because I’m the weaver of my life.
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?
My family, the first sponsor of my life! And my friends.

Peter de Kuster is the founder of The Heroine’s Journey & Hero’s Journey project, a storytelling firm which helps creative professionals to create careers and lives based on whatever story is most integral to their lives and careers (values, traits, skills and experiences). Peter’s approach combines in-depth storytelling and marketing expertise, and for over 20 years clients have found it effective with a wide range of creative business issues.
Peter is writer of the series The Heroine’s Journey and Hero’s Journey books, he has an MBA in Marketing, MBA in Financial Economics and graduated at university in Sociology and Communication Sciences.

The Heroine’s Journey Coaching online sessions last 50 minutes and the fee is Euro 189 excluding VAT per session. The Heroine’s Journey Coaching is suitable for people at any stage in their career.

Should I choose 1:1 coaching?
Our The Heroine’s Journey experiences in world cities allow you to learn not only from the coach but also from your peers. For the small group coaching (1 – 4 people), we have selected important, relevant topics that we find regularly come up for creative professional: purpose, storytelling, creative confidence, self promotion, time & money and resilience.
If you would prefer to work alone or on a different topic, individual coaching is a better fit for you.
What language do we speak in the coaching sessions?
English.
Can I buy coaching for my organization?
Yes, you can! We support many organizations around the world with their coaching needs. Please contact us for more information.
Can I bring my own topics?
Yes, for individual coaching you get to choose your own topic.
Are coaching sessions confidential?
Yes. Peter will not share anything that is discussed in the coaching sessions.
Where will the coaching sessions take place?
Sessions will take place online (as per the times we live in) via an online tool like Zoom or Skype. Peter will let you know.

How do I book and reschedule sessions?

Individual coaching sessions can be postponed up to one week before the session.
