What is the best thing that I love about my work? Listening to my soul and giving body to my dreams, despite all the obstacles.
What is my idea of happiness? Beyond living with my many animals and books, in an old nest-house (with a longer story of many souls inside it), happiness is living outside human herds, doing works that I love and I believe in, having those who love me by my side.
What is my greatest fear? I don’t have anymore. I died “very well” in 2019 and now I face everything, step by step, without avoiding fighting, to protect what I love and I believe in.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself? My own mess which grow on layers of stratification similar to the “kipple” described by Philip Kindred Dick in “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”, because it seems to reproduce itself and to grow.
Which living persons in my profession do i most admire? I deeply admire Jenny Holzer, Christian Boltanski, Gerhard Richter, Bill Viola, Hugo De Ana. / Ammiro profondamente Jenny Holzer, Christian Boltanski, Gerhard Richter, Bill Viola, Hugo De Ana.
What is my greatest extravagance? Living in similar way to Mowgli (by Joseph Rudyard Kipling), without rejecting technology and its hybridizations with nature.
On what occasion would I lie? Whenever I need to respect the boundaries of those who do not need the truth, because the life they have built and in which they feel happy together with others, works with a “ acceptable and appreciated fiction” . I would never lie about my feelings (and my paraverbal language would betray me anyway).
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work? I don’t like the amount of people who try to denigrate my work by calling it a “hobby”, and who deprive it of accessible spaces, economic protection and the right of representation.
When and where was I the happiest, in my work? There is not a single place, but rather situations that generate surprising results. There is no doubt I work well with someone who is respectful of my rights and who has a multiplicity of passions that push her / him towards a continuous growth. It makes me very “embarrassed” dealing with those who live with blinders and with the presumption of knowing already “everything it needed”.
If I could, what would I change about myself? Physically: nothing. Character: I learn from my mistakes. / Fisicamente: niente. Caratterialmente: imparo dai miei errori.
What is my greatest achievement in work? Moving as an independent artist, between temporary collaborations and with no gallery and no curator supporting me, I consider a success every work of mine I can bring on stage without substantial changes. Every works comes to life directly on the physical plan and , later, it is always “felt” by others except by me. However, there is no doubt that my three latest solo shows “Il Gioco dei Dove / The Game of Where”, “Pelle d’anima/ Soul Skin” and “Lehrjahre”, “Llinked together”, are my greatest success!
Where would I most like to live? I already live where I want and it is my “Tortuga” from which to start, spiritually and physically, to grow. There are also countries where I wouldn’t like live in, because my “ four-legged family members” could not follow me. And there is no material success that might pay back for my emotional losses, later regretted. And I want to be happy by holding my heart and soul very tight.
What is my most treasured possession? My soul, my soul which, according to someone, coincides with the heart and also with my blood.
What is my most marked characteristic? The courage / Il coraggio
What is my most inspirational location, in my city? There are various stimulating places, accessible freely for “almost” everyone, because of the presence of architectural obstacles for disabled people with reduced mobility. But, undoubtedly, the eighteenth-century University Library of Cagliari, the MEM-Mediateca del Mediterraneo, the Metropolitan Library “Emilio Lussu” (immersed in the urban park of Monte Claro) and all the others Urban Libraries with their book heritage, are my favourite destination places that have inspired more than a project.
What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city? There is not a single place. If I want to eat streetfood I can find the best “pizza by the slice” at the “Pizzetta d’oro” in Pineta street; if I want the best meringues, I have to go to Caffè Tramer, at Mazzini street; if, on the other hand, I want to eat the Cagliari specialty, little pizzas, I can find them everywhere, only with a qualitative difference (it is a snack that creates real dependence in anyone who tastes it). I don’t have a favorite place to have lunch or dinner, but I avoid those places where almost exclusively fish dishes dedicated. And I’m just a big drinker of tea (and some types of herbal tea) and cappuccino with considerable quantities of cocoa powder. Zero alcohol. But there is a special place, created and managed by passionate cinephiles as well as photographers and artists, the Overlock in Mameli street, that provides alternative drinks for those who like drinking craft beers and cellar wines, and you can eat Divinely.
What books influenced my life and how? Limiting myself to name just a few, I put at the first place the Fairy Tales, at the plural, in particular the top collection of Charles Perrault, the Grimm Brothers and Aleksandr Afanas’ev, forever loved! As J.R.R. Tolkien said, in an essay of 1939, fairy tales are not made “for children”, but for those who love them and they teach that dragons can be defeated. Then, there is the great ocean from which I take out only a few titles: by Ray Bradbury ” Something Wicked This Way Comes”, “The big world over there” as well as – 34 Stories” and “Fahrenheit 451″; Philip Kindred Dick with “But do androids dream of electric sheep?”, “The Penultimate Truth” and his short stories; Aldous Huxley with “Ape and the Essence”; Arthur C. Clarke with “The City and the Stars”; Theodore Sturgeon with “The Dreaming Jewels”; Michael Ende with “The prison of the liberty (Das Gefängnis der Freiheit)” and “The Mirror in the Mirror (Der Spiegel im Spiegel); John Steinbeck with “East of Eden”; Lewis Carroll with “Alice in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There”; the trilogy of “The Lord of the Rings” by John Roland Reuel Tolkien; “Harry Potter Saga” by J.K. Rowling. From each of these texts I received, as a gift, new words, philosophical visions and reflections on the meaning of being in the world and on the different forms of rebirth. An education to hope and to struggle.
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day? Wow! I believe the lullaby I love most: “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,( Wimoweh)”. / Wow!
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? Hercule Poirot and Melinda Gordon from “Ghost Whisperer”. / Hercule Poirot e Melinda Gordon dalla serie tv “Ghost Whisperer”.
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life? In addition to the pour soul of Doctor Ignác Semmelweiss and Pedagogist Maria Montessori, all those who are committed to opening ways of salvation for others, also through the art.
