The Heroine’s Journey of Stefania Morgante

What is the best thing that I love about my work? The freedom, The uncertainty, The exploration of space and ideas that I don’t know.

What is my idea of perfect happiness? To see my studio empty because I decorated the walls of happy collectors around the world.

What is my greatest fear? To die without having created enough, to die in silence, to die alone, to die remaining unknown to the people.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself? I never believe enough in myself.

Which living persons in my profession do i most admire? In This moment Cindy Sherman, Barbara Kruger, Paula Scher.

What is my greatest extravagance?  I lived by the sea for over 15 years and almost never went on the beach. I hate laying under the sun.

On what occasion would I lie? If the person in front of me needs to find the strength to start again. It ‘s just to give hope.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work? You can have a lot of talent but if you remain in the dark no one will notice. Everything is related to visibility.

if I could, what would I change about myself? more self-esteem more determination more relaxation

What is my greatest achievement in work? create something makes sense and reason that will last for years.

Where would I most like to live? No doubts: Paris and New York!

What is my most treasured possession? My grandmother’s letters, many tools of my dad.

What is my most marked characteristic? objectively I think I have a lot of constancy determination tenacity patience and hardheaded.

What is my most inspirational location, in my city? I live in a small town near woods, mountains and a river. I have many locations! From my studio I see the ruins of a castle, vineyards and trees and wonderful sunsets. I would say that I am surrounded by beauty every day.

What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city? I’m still exploring, I have been living in these wonderful places for a few months.

What books influenced my life and how? Emily Dickinson’s poems ( I dedicate a collage to Emily, It is a cover for an Harvard book about her), Garcia Marquez (One Hundred Years of Solitude), Erica Jong (Fear of Flying), Sylvia Plath’s poems. But each decade for me has had the decisive books. It’s difficult to choose. Freudian, I may have forgotten the most important. These authors have allowed me to explore my soul. The question I have put through their writings was “what do I want for me, for my life?

What do I want to choose? What do I want to look in my path?

Who are my favorite writers? Hemingway, Munro, Dickinson, Rosselli, Franca Valeri, Plath, Munari, Szymborska, Woolf, Pinkola Estés and many many others.

You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day? In This moment Patti Smith Bach and Mozart.

Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? I haven’t heroes or heroines in fiction.

Who are my heroes and heroines in real life? My paternal grandma, my dad.

Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime? Blade Runner (timeless) –

What role plays art in my life and work? The title of my blog says: Art is Life Life is Art.

Where does art end and where does life begin? I do not know. I try to turn my life into a work of art. I try to transform the art in real life.

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? My husband. He is crazy enough to believe in me more than I do.

Whom would I like to work with in 2017? Can I dream the impossible? Paula Scher, Cindy Sherman, Barbara Kruger, Yahoo Kusama, Michelle Obama… ( I have a long list!)

Which people in my profession would i love to meet in 2017? the same people with whom I would like to work.
