What is the best thing that I love about my work? My work allows me to create magic illusions and exteriorize what I think and feel so that the audience can witness me as a plastic artist, designer or producer. It’s beautiful to see others join my projects and make them real.
What is my idea of perfect happiness? Simply be myself, with no fears and surrounded by my loved ones.
What is my greatest fear? I don’t have any fears because I live everyday day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute carefully watching over my every action to not have to regret anything and always choosing a happier day.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself? I look at myself every day and change what I don’t like about me. Because I take care of myself and I’ve learned to love who I am with my defects and qualities.
Which living persons in my profession do I most admire? I admire actors in general that rid themselves of their personality and give all they have to commit to their characters that take their lives over, their wishes, bodies and more.
What is my greatest extravagance? Being a rebel and following my intuition and heart without caring about what people say or think. I am 47 years old and I had never done it… I’ve always been very self-aware to behave properly and always agree with what should be. Today, all I want is to be and make others happy.
On what occasion would I lie? I hate lies and liars. I believe that it’s much more effective to tell the truth than a lie… it becomes way harder not only tell the truth but also hearing it, because sometimes the truth can hurt but always has a way to change the impossible because now-a-day who says the truth surprises and makes people fall in love.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work? I hate endings, to say goodbye to a project that is finished start disconnecting with someone that was born with me… It is hard for me to detach from the art I make just as much as it’s hard to detach from the plays that I care for months, every day and every minute of rehearsals.
When and where was I the happiest, in my work? Every vernissage, every premiere is unique moment of happiness. To create is to confront ourselves and present it publicly. It is to expose your art to the opinion of a stranger and till present all those moments have brought me happiness but the main play that has made me feel something special has been “The kiss of the wild boar” from the Argentinian director and dramaturg Eduardo Roman.
If I could, what would I change about myself? I wouldn’t want to change anything because every scar, every smile make me who I am today… I wouldn’t want to be any other way in this moment of my life.
What is my greatest achievement in work? To sell a play is the most exciting to me because it’s to touch someone with my sensibility and to fill a theatre with applause and take people’s heart and adrenaline to the maximum.
Where would I most like to live? I’ve traveled thru the whole world and I consider myself a citizen of the world with my multicultural roots and my 4 languages. I can live wherever but my mermaid soul has to be near the ocean that feeds my art.
What is my most treasured possession? The only thing that’s mine is my heart, my soul and my capacity to understand and interpret my life experience.
What is my most marked characteristic? I am a Pisces so by nature I am sensitive to the ones that surround me and I always give all of me.
What is my most inspirational location, in my city? The ocean, until I lose it in the horizon or follow its movement until the it reaches my bare feet. Miami is ocean and the place I decided to live in for making me who I am today: Tess.
What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city? My city is full of restaurants ran by world renowned chefs and luxury atmosphere with beautiful ocean or city views. But I can’t deny that what I appreciate the most is a salad made with love and care by my husband, which we eat in silence at our Brickell apartment. Today I have more appreciation for what seem to be the simple things which in my opinion are worthwhile.
What books influenced my life and how? “Will you be there?” by Guillaume Musso that made me profoundly reflect on how it would be if I had the chance to change all the bad things that have happened to me in life; what would I gain or what would I lose? Everything or nothing? “The crooked lines of God” by Torcuato Luca de Tena who made me question who is really crazy in this life?
Who are my favorite writers?
Several famous writers have marked my life and personal growth but I confess that I live in love with the greatest writer in my opinion: my husband, Eduardo Roman. Who creates characters and strong, powerful texts that I love helping him bring to reality on stage, empowered by talented actors that give life to these characters who exist in paper.
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?
“O MARE E TU” by Andrea Bocelli and Dulce Pontes that transports me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGyeuCEAyWU. Chopin and his “Revolucionario” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iodNObntL1g
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? James Bond class, intelligence and sensuality.
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life? We all tend to name famous people that without a doubt have a certain presence and public impact. I rather name anonymous’ that are also big… those friends that know how to give themselves to others, single parents, those that cry in silence and show us smiles, those who take on noble causes and fights… so many of which don’t get the recognition on TV or newspapers.
Which movie would I recommend to see once in a lifetime? “Lady Hawk” with Michelle Pfeiffer wonderful tale that makes contradictions and dis-encounters evident.
What role plays art in my life and work? Art is my life in every aspect because I live and breathe for every type of art.
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? My greatest fan is my husband, with whom I share my life and work 24/7. He is my biggest critic and who simultaneously holds my hand thru every venture… I confess that with him I feel at peace. I have other fans who silently witness what I do which are my son and daughter.
Whom would I like to work with in 2017? I have a wonderful project in hand that I wish I could already see come to life. The musical comedy which is already in Broadway producers’ hands where Hernan Piquin, Argentinian dancer, is the protagonist… I can’t wait!
Which people in my profession would I love to meet in 2017? There are so many that it wouldn’t be right to mention them and make the mistake to forget to name some, I rather see what surprises are ahead.
What project, in 2017, am I looking forward to work on? As I previously mentioned above, the musical in hand that I want to take to Broadway which is in production. That the theater gods allow the magic to unfold and that the work of Eduardo Roman, Argentinian dramaturg and director, is brought to life with the songs that I helped write and that the big Argentinian music producer, Gustavo Gini helped musicalize.
Where can you see me or my work in 2017? In this moment, I am producing several plays by Eduardo Roman, which will be presented in Miami in different venues and events, in Spanish. Sonata of love, Monologues of the A–, Kill me softly, An Astrosophy night, Bird’s bones, When he slept with me, Fresh meet and counting.
What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me? I believe I expressed and proved it by producing so many plays simultaneously in such short time and space. I adore what I do and I show it by non-stop producing as long as my actors fall in love with the writing by Eduardo Roman.
Which creative heroines should Peter invite to tell their story? I have many I can recommend that are a great life role model, I would like to name one in particular; Abigail Pereira who in my opinion represents strength, fight, creativity and a society that is ever changing. Also, I’d recommend Eduardo Roman, the writer who I exclusively produce for everything previously mentioned and Hernan Piquin a dancer with great human content that extends far beyond his talent and makes people dream with every dance move.
