What is the best thing that I love about my work?
I enjoy the challenge of translating a vision into visual as well as the meditative character of my work. Since my oil paintings are mostly large-sized it takes months to complete one. Once I’m finished I’m content with the quality of my work.
What is my idea of happiness?
Unconditional surrender to freedom.
What is my greatest fear?
To accidentally injure my hands so badly that I can’t paint anymore.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?
Sometimes I regret being such an uncompromising character. On the other hand, this trait has helped me to pursue my way as an artist.
Which living persons in my profession do I most admire?
I hold many artists in high esteem yet don’t admire anybody.
What is my greatest extravagance?
I am never able to pass a box of free stuff on the street without sneaking a peep.
On what occasion would I lie?
I would lie to the devil in order to get to heaven.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?
Nothing! I enjoy it always and to the fullest extent.
When and where was I the happiest, in my work?
Each and every second I can throw myself into my work in my studio.
If I could, what would I change about myself?
I’m pretty content with myself, so I’d say there is no major change I would see the need to undergo.
What is my greatest achievement in work?
The painting skills that I have acquired during many years of hard work.
Where would I most like to live?
Berlin! I can’t imagine any other place at this stage of my life.
What is my most treasured possession?
That’s a treasured secret.
What is my most marked characteristic?
The quality of my paintings.
What is my most inspirational location in my city?
My studio.
What is my favorite place to eat and drink in my city?
My kitchen.
What books influenced my life and how?
I’m influenced by a lot of books, during my youth it was especially by Dostoevsky. One of my favorite books is “Master and Margarita”.
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?
Pippi Longstocking.
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?
As I said earlier, I don’t idolize people.
Which movie would I recommend to see once in a lifetime?
“Withnail and I”, “Dekalog” by Kieslowski.

My life and work is art!
What project, in 2020, am I looking forward to work on?
I’m looking forward to finishing my “Shadows” cycle and beginning with “Fairytales”, my new project.
