The Heroine’s Journey of Odile Chevassus

What do I love most about my work? I love creating works that tell a story and touch people. Every project is a new adventure. I enjoy exploring colors, textures, and emotions. Seeing someone moved by my work is a great reward. I also love the process of designing and making. The mix of technique and creativity excites me. Working alone or with inspiring partners motivates me. I always learn something new with every project. I love the energy my art gives me every day. My work is also a way to connect with others.

What is my idea of happiness? Happiness for me is being surrounded by loved ones and living my passions fully. It’s savoring small moments, like a morning coffee or a walk in the city. It’s having the freedom to create and express myself. It’s also feeling at peace with myself. Sharing my achievements and discoveries with those I care about makes me happy. I find happiness in pushing myself and small successes. Seeing my work appreciated by others fills me with joy. Being curious and constantly learning contributes to my happiness. Happiness is also knowing how to slow down and enjoy the moment. Ultimately, it’s a mix of freedom, love, and creativity.

What is my greatest fear? The fear of losing my loved ones affects me deeply.

What trait do I most deplore in myself? Insecurity, the constant feeling of being an impostor. I can be too perfectionist. Sometimes, I doubt myself too much. I tend to postpone certain decisions. I can be impatient with obstacles. I am sometimes too critical of my work. I struggle to accept that not everything is under my control. I can be too reserved in some situations. Sometimes, I take on too many responsibilities at once. But I work every day to turn these traits into strengths.

What do I dislike most about my work? I dislike when bureaucracy or administrative constraints slow down my creativity. Destructive criticism is hard to take. And organizing my studio lol, sometimes I wish I had assistance with certain tasks.

When and where was I happiest in my work? I have been happiest on projects where I could experiment freely. When I presented my work to clients or the public and they were moved. During exhibitions where I saw genuine emotions. When collaborating with inspiring and passionate people. Every intense creation moment, where time disappears, brings me joy. Seeing my work recognized makes me happy. When I surprise myself at the end of a creation, feeling amazed! Even small daily successes fill me with satisfaction. These moments confirm that I am doing what I love.

If I could, what would I change about myself? I would like to be less perfectionist. I wish I had more patience. I want to manage stress and anxiety better. I would like to be more confident in my choices. I want to not be held back by doubt. And most importantly, continue to grow without imposing limits on myself.

What is my most treasured possession? I’m not attached to objects. I see in each one a creative possibility. My only inseparable companion is my phone, where I note ideas and create albums.

What is my most inspirational location in my city? The park near my home is my favorite place. I find calm and inspiration there. The morning light on the trees inspires my use of colors. People passing by and their stories stimulate me. The benches and paths give me a chance to reflect. I love walking there with my sketchbook. The changing seasons feed my creativity. Even a simple moment sitting in the sun inspires me.

What is my favorite place to eat and drink in my city? I don’t have just one, but several, depending on my mood. Whether it’s a vegan restaurant, a cozy bistro, or a warm café, I enjoy diversity and discoveries.

Which books influenced my life and how? I loved all Agatha Christie books in my youth; they made me think and transported me to other worlds. I enjoy reading action and suspense books; they challenge my mind and give me a mental break, allowing me to come back stronger to my creativity.

You only die once. What music would I listen to on my last day? I would listen to music that makes me smile and dance… all the disco music from the 80s

Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? I admire characters who dare to follow their hearts despite obstacles. Those who fight for their values. Heroines who reinvent themselves and learn from their mistakes. Characters who are sensitive and courageous at the same time. Those who inspire through creativity and perseverance. Characters who find their path despite challenges. Those who fight for others without losing integrity. Heroines who inspire resilience and authenticity. And those who show that strength can be gentle.

Which movie would I recommend to see at least once in a lifetime? Forrest Gump; this movie moves me every time, I never get tired of watching it! Its way of seeing life, without even realizing it, is a beautiful life lesson.

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? My greatest fan is my daughter Talia, the first to believe in me and encourage my art. I’m also fortunate to be surrounded by friends and family who believed in me even more than I did at the start. I take this moment to thank them.

Which people or companies would I like to work with? I would love to collaborate with inspiring international artists; creating works together would be a dream. Galleries or cultural institutions that value creativity. Innovative companies that support art. Organizations promoting sustainability and responsibility. Artist collectives for collaborative projects. Schools or universities to share my knowledge. And anyone who shares the vision of engaged and authentic art.

What project am I looking forward to work on? I would really like to create a work that appears on a product: a perfume bottle, a vegan cream, something that represents me. That would be a beautiful accomplishment for me.

Where can people see me or my work? You can see me in my studio, where I create each piece. At local and international exhibitions. On my website chevassus.ca and my social media: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok @Odile Chevassus
