The Heroine’s Journey of Charon Scerra

What is the best thing that I love about my work?
I love to get away from my personal life and get to be someone else. It gives me the
chance to go deep into the human psyche and live many different lives.
What is my idea of perfect happiness?
Being at peace with myself and being surrounded by the people I love most.
What is my greatest fear?
To die without having done all I wanted in my life.
Which living person in my profession do I most admire?
Hard-working actors who give themselves the opportunity to fail. It is not easy to keep
going after several rejections.
What is my greatest extravagance?
I love to check out new fitness classes and healthy restaurants. I like to travel as well.
On what occasion would I lie?
Only to save someone’s life.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?
That I am often not able to spend much time with my family and/or able to go to
important family events. Sometime I just get booked for a Feature Film or a Theater
production and can’t really take days off.
When and Where was I the happiest in my work?
I love creating my own work and express myself through movement. I also had a great
time performing at La MaMa E.T.C. in the production of “Food For The Gods”. I truly
loved everybody on the team. Huge shout out to Nehprii Amenii. Everybody should work
with her at least once in their lifetime!
If I could, what would I change about my self?
Sometimes I need someone to remind myself that I am enough. Wish I wouldn’t need
someone for that.
What is my greatest achievement in work?
I love to challenge myself. Sometimes I am fully into the character and I forget about the
world I live in. Completely. That’s when I am fully in the moment and it gives me
adrenaline!
Where would I most like to live?
Haven’t found a place yet. Somewhere warm and with access to the beach would be
nice.
What is my most treasured possession?
“Peach”, my cat. She’s always there to make me smile when I am most in need.
What is my most marked characteristic?
I am very open-minded and always find a way to fit in.
What is my most inspirational location, in my city?
I currently live in NYC and sometimes I love to sit at MoMa and look at Monet’s
Waterlilies.
What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city?
I like to change places and explore new restaurants/bars. I love vegan/vegetarian spots
and cute independent bars.
What books influenced my life and how?
“The Divine Comedy” by Dante Alighieri. I am named after one of the characters. I
would read it everyday when I was at High School.
Also, a copy of “Romeo and Juliet”. It was a present from my dad. I keep that book
wherever I go.
Who are my favorite writers?
William Shakespeare (of course), Edgar A. Poe, Pirandello. Some of the contemporary
writers I really like are Florian Zeller, Duncan McMillan and Jose Rivera ( who I had the
pleasure to work with)
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?
“I Dreamed A Dream- Les Miserables”
Who is my hero or Heroine in Fiction?
Cat Woman!
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?
People who fight for their dreams. Those whom face life with courage no matter what
comes their way.
Which movie would I recommend to see once in a lifetime?
“Big Fish” by Tim Burton.
What roles plays art in my life and work?
I was born surrounded by art. My mum is a painter and sometimes she makes puppets
with my dad.
I used to go to dance and singing competitions and had to compete against my
cousins. I’ve been on stage my entire life and I have to say that it feels really good!
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?
Those people that believe in me and helped me to get where I am right now. Also my
parents for constantly supporting me.
Who would you like to work with in 2019?
All those Creatives that aim to bring diversity on Stage/Theater.
Which people in my profession would I love to meet in 2019?
Directors and Producers who are not scared to create something different than what’s
already in the market.
What project, in 2019, am looking forward to work on?
Unfortunately I cannot mention it yet!
Where can you see me or my work in 2019?
Definitely in New York, London or Italy.
What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me?
If you love what you do, you’ll never really stop doing it.
