The Heroine’s Journey of Marion Lesongeur

What is the best thing that I love about my work? What’s great about the voice world is that every day is a new story. We do not realize it, but voices accompany us everywhere, it opens up incredible opportunities for me to progress, and each day is thus unique… I love waking up every day with the excitement of the surprises that await me

What is my idea of happiness? I loved working in a team before discovering the freelance world, and today I like this freedom to choose how, when, with whom I work too. Happiness is everywhere. I really believe that we all have this choice to be happy. Maybe i’m a bit utopain, anyway, my definition of happiness is to always see the glass half full (French proverb) and not the glass half empty… which really means that in every moment, we can find a piece of happiness

What is my greatest fear? Definitely to be alone. When I started, I really had this fear of no longer having a professional entourage, a social Life… And in fact, as the story unfolds, I am far from alone. There are many encounters, virtually or visually, by chance or not. The freelancer is not alone if he does not wish it.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself? Despite a cheerful and positive temperament, I tend to grumble to myself when things don’t go the way I want. I work hard to be grateful for what I have accomplished. My problem may be to be too demanding with myself, and suddenly with others. To do this, I have a bullet journal that allows me to express my gratitude regularly, to review what I have accomplished and to plan the great projects to put in place

Which living persons in my profession do i most admire? definitely my best friend, Amandine, who followed the same path as me a few years earlier, ie leaving the world of radio to start on her own. She supported me in my project years later, advised me, supported me, and I am eternally grateful to her for that. I admire his professional success, the evolution of his career, it’s very inspiring

What is my greatest extravagance? I always talk to myself! I’m nicknamed Jacqueline alone by the way! I tend to live 1000 projects at the same time, and believe me, it’s finally possible to live several lives when you give yourself the means, you have to succeed in organizing yourself so as not to be drowned.. Talking to me alone means that I rarely feel alone after all, but people can find me eccentric sometimes

On what occasion would I lie? I try to be honest most of the time, but I’m afraid to look weak, so I sometimes “lie” and say that everything is fine, when in reality, I don’t feel my best. form. That said, most people also pretend from time to time to be on top when in reality, it’s not the joy. I tell myself that a little lie sometimes doesn’t hurt, and that you end up convincing yourself that it’s going well… And it always ends up getting better

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work? I think that, like most voices, haughty and superior people are to be banished… they think they are indispensable to us, have the science of the environment and only bring bad impressions. They make doubt in the bad sense of the word, and sink more than they make grow. So I would say that’s what I don’t like about the job. Fortunately, most are very benevolent, human and encouraging. I love my job so much

When and where was I the happiest, in my work? I love the morning. When the day starts, full of projects and all the ideas that bloomed in my head during the night. Sometimes expected emails have arrived, new contacts… This environment is fascinating with so many possibilities, the field of possibilities is endless, every day is a new adventure, you never get bored. So I would say that finding my pretty studio, in which I feel good, at the start of the day is magical

If I could, what would I change about myself? I would dare more. I’m always afraid to disturb, or else I don’t feel legitimate. I have a 10 year old daughter to whom I have been telling since she was three apples tall to be afraid of nothing, not to be embarrassed to ask, to try, to live… I would like to have this strength, and I admit trying to stick to it even if it’s hard. Let’s say that I apply as much as possible what I say to my daughter for myself, in order to make her proud of me, and to encourage her to be inspired by it

What is my greatest achievement in work? I was very proud to have been selected for a half English half French project on a platform last year, it was for a broadcast around a big world basketball tournament… But I didn’t have any details on the purpose alas. I recorded a live session with 6 Americans who were guiding me, it was a great first for me, and I had to record in English, then translate and record in French… I had incredible stress, but I was very proud to succeed in this project. the live sessions are really cool and rewarding even if they are also very stressful. I encourage you to do it when possible, even if you’re scared, you’ll come out stronger.

Where would I most like to live? last year, i left the love of my life Bordeaux to go and live with my family in the countryside, in the poitevin marshes. It was very hard at first, a big gap in life between the city and the countryside. But today I am delighted to see the pink sky of sunrise, the fields as far as the eye can see, wild boar, raptors, deer and horses everywhere around. So for now, I think I’m where I want to be. The plane takes me where I want when I want, and every weekend can be a new adventure if I want… My big 18th century stone house is full of magic. I believe that it is necessary to know before all to appreciate what one has, what could I wish more?

What is my most treasured possession? ohlala, obvious, my children. But I’m afraid all the women in this world will answer the same thing. So then, I would say that I have an incredible chance to be supported by my dear husband, for almost 20 years. He believes in me and pushed me into this adventure of self-employed voiceover. He always thought I was worth it. And materially, I have a bullet journal in which I note, I draw, I test, I plan… it’s a simple notebook, which I cherish and which I follow everywhere. Notice to you who have too much mental load on a daily basis, it will be your best ally, your diary, your agenda, your best friend… It’s my most precious object 🙂

What is my most marked characteristic? I have a fiery temper, it goes with the joy of living I think. I try my best to be temperate and gentle, but since I was young, I tend to move a lot, talk a lot, probably my black feet roots haha And that’s how life should be, isn’t it? a bonfire !

What is my most inspirational location, in my city? as I mentioned, I left my beautiful Bordeaux for the Marais Poitevin, a magical, almost mystical place, where people are kind, take the time, are friendly. Water is omnipresent here, it inspires me with its reflections. Practicing different graphic arts from my past in visual communication, I love light. The place that inspires me the most here is undoubtedly the road in front of my house, in the heart of the fields. When I take it, almost every day, I look for the wild animals that roam the fields, I watch for the morning or evening light, this road will have its place on a drawing of my bullet, it is she who m breathe in… When I open the shutters, I find her again, her and the fields, sometimes yellow, sometimes green, sometimes brown… Depending on the season. I don’t think you need to look far… Most of the time, happiness is right in front, you just have to look up (from your phone)

What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city? In my village, not far from my house, there is this little bar called “the frozen marsh” where the boss Jérémy is really nice, and where the beer list is incredible, I love settling down there for a “fairy torchette” (an excellent northern beer) there is the small village church in front, and the locals. The market takes place on the square on Fridays and Sundays, and for the summer season, waffles and pancakes await us… You can even go get a pizza nearby to enjoy it on its terrace. If you come to Coulon in France, a detour is essential;)

What books influenced my life and how? I love old English literature like Jane Austeen, because I love old times. I was a fan of Harry Potter too. This JK invented a complete world and marked history forever… She is an inspiring woman in my opinion. I love love books, Margaux Motin’s comics, her very girly graphics and her anecdotes where I often find myself making my life light… light books like the chronicles of Bridgerton too.

You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day? My bacon roll by Mark Knopfler, which I had the chance to hear live during his last concert in Bordeaux before the end of his career, I still have tears in my eyes. I was in the sixth row, with my dad who gave me this taste for rockers from another time… He’s the one who will accompany me for this last day, and I think I can translate more than his song speaks precisely of its flaws due to the passage of time… Beautiful morality, isn’t it?

Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? I am thinking of Poupette dans « la Boum ». It’s a French film with the beautiful Sophie Marceau. “poupette”, it’s Denise Grey, a French actress, and it’s the great granny we would all like to have (and for me, to become) Yes, it seems weird as a reference, but I admit that she is very inspiring, musician, cool… It seems that time has no effect on her, she remains the same, takes life to the full teeth, and is such an awesome grandma. She is my source of inspiration for the passing of time. I’ve said since I was little that one day I’ll be like her.

Who are my heroes and heroines in real life? I have plenty of inspiring people, but I would first say my grandmother Jacqueline, who was a second mother for me, and despite the fact that our lives are so different, she is always there, good advice, and I love him so much. She pushes me to give the best.

Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime? Pretty woman of course! To remain convinced forever that everything is possible, Viviane has everything to succeed, but she is a prostitute, and she meets this incredible man, and she saves him and he saves her. Life is full of surprises and I know this film by heart! My blue flower side most certainly, haha

What role play stories in my life and work? I am greatly inspired by people who realize their dreams, believe that anything is possible, brave hardships with courage. In each adventure that I live, positive or negative, I like to hear the anecdotes of my entourage, or famous people on similar stories, it really helps me. My friend, voiceover, also reassures me when I have doubts about stories that she herself experienced, when my mother died, my relatives who experienced the same thing accompanied me, just by their how to handle this situation. I draw inspiration from similar stories, not to reproduce the same thing, but to find what suits me best. I like to see the successes of personality in fields that fascinate me, like the dancers who succeeded in this movement, or this audition, it makes me believe that if she succeeds, why not me? You have to find inspiration everywhere, in every story, fictional or not.

What do the words ‘You are the storyteller of your own life’ to me? Exactly what I concluded in the previous sentence… It is important to draw inspiration from those around you, close or not, from the events that drive us, but the decision of how to manage our lives is ours alone. It’s like a palette of colors after all, we take colors from what surrounds us and inspires us, and we mix and match them to create the picture of our own life…

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? My former radio colleague and friend is a great support to me, she cheers me up when I break down, often reminds me how strong I am, she’s one of my fans… As well as my partner in crimes besides, life is chewable to the fullest by his side. But I would gladly extend this answer to my close friends, who have been by my side each in their own way for a very long time. We all need friends with a capital F

Which people or companies would I like to work with? In my future projects, I would really like to work with the Blynd agency which does audio books, for that I will have to audition when I am ready, their projects are absolutely fascinating. There is also a German agency currently working with the Paris Opera and Adobe photoshop, my 2 great loves. Exciting projects are plentiful on voice platforms, but castings are plentiful and competition is tough. Radio skins are also in my projects. I would like to lend my voice to causes, being a greenpeace donor, L214.. In short, I still have so much way to go, every day is a new adventure, unpredictable and exciting.

What project am I looking forward to work on? I like new things, so I regularly approach potential customers who are not necessarily into what I’m used to doing.. audio books, documentary films, podcasts, radio presentations, historical film… I can’t name them all, there are so many areas in our world.

Where can you see me or my work? I’m starting to show myself on social networks, but I’m not very adept so it takes an effort, I’m getting into it little by little, and then there’s also my site, but it’s not always day. It must be said that it is often very complicated to retrieve the exciting projects carried out, so it is difficult to add this content when you cannot retrieve the finalized files. I regularly audition for platforms like voices, or bodalgo. The proposals are so varied and exciting, I love taking the time to put my voice on these projects.

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me? I think I conducted this interview around passion with a capital P. We must live with passion, think that everything is possible and never let anyone lead us to doubt it… Listening to others to enrich ourselves and not to sink. Passion is ephemeral, so you have to know how to renew it, by looking for what inspires us on Monday, which will probably not be what will enchant us on Wednesday… Live with passion, and as William Parrish said in Meet joe black … Oh yes, think again. I don’t feel any flinch or even the beginning of a shiver. This relationship resembles a loving passion between two tits. I want you to get carried away. I want you to fly away, I want you… To sing of rapture and dance like a dervish. (…) Dive into an ocean of happiness. Or that you are always ready to be… This sentence is the one that will image my thought

Which creative professionals should Peter invite to tell their story? the blynd agency which delights us with its absolutely incredible projects, they are based in Lyon in France. The Nolha agency which has just been created by 2 former colleagues of mine, they are in Lyon and offer digital communication content, I think you will be won over. My friend Julie Chauvin, who works on her own in SEO, it’s an important job these days, she’s near La Rochele. I would have many desires for collaborations, but I believe in destiny, we will meet soon if I give the best. After all why not ?

How can you contact me? I am Marion Lesongeur, voiceover actress for fifteen years in Aquitaine, France. Do not hesitate to contact me by email: marionlesongeuroff@gmail.com, to consult my website marionlesongeur.com or to check the social networks, even if I still lack content, giving more time to the projects themselves. rather than the networks for the time being.
