What is the best thing that I love about my work?
For me as a (screen)writer the best thing is creating worlds, characters, and stories, that hopefully will entertain and move people, just like television shows and movies make me happy or sad.
What is my idea of happiness?
Happiness is sometimes hard to find. Not everyone is lucky to be happy. I often struggle to find happiness. Especially stressful phases in life make it hard. But I love watching shows and movies and I love to read, and just recharging with a good story, whether this is in written form or happening on a screen, this can make me happy. Good food and spending time with my loved ones and walks in nature help me to feel better and be happy too.
What is my greatest fear?
I think I have a lot of fears. Irrational fears but also fears that most people can relate too. The creative industry can be tough and especially as a writer, money and income can be a concern. I often fear that I won’t be able to pay for my bills or buy food and that this could be my life: struggling with money. But I know I am only at the beginning of my career and things will become more stable.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?
Overthinking. I overthink too much, and it often causes times of unhappiness and worrying about the littlest things.
Which living persons in my profession do I most admire?
Writers and authors of books and shows or films that I enjoy and creative people in the industry such as directors and actors that I admire. I think the list would be long, but here are a few names: Mads Mikkelsen, James Dashner, Christopher Nolan, Suzanne Collins, and there are so, so many more people I could name.
What is my greatest extravagance?
I think this is hardly a word that describes me. I do not treat myself very often. I think if anything that is extravagant in my life, it would be occasional expensive food treats such as sushi or shopping sprees for new clothing.
On what occasion would I lie?
I don’t lie. Just like the Aes Sedai in Robert Jordans “Wheel Of Time”, it might be a variation of truth that I am speaking, without giving everything away, but it happens without lying. But usually I speak straight forward and let people know what I am thinking.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?
Nothing. I can’t think of anything. If anything, that comes with the work as a writer, it would be unfair payment. But besides that, I love my work.
When and where was I the happiest, in my work?
The moment I created a big television show, which is not produced, nor in any development. But the characters and world I have created are beautiful and I already find myself going to these places, whenever my mind needs a break from reality.
If I could, what would I change about myself?
Less overthinking and worrying about everything.
What is my greatest achievement in work?
Developing many different stories, in many different formats and also winning a few awards.
Where would I most like to live?
In a cute little house, with a small garden and a peaceful and quiet surrounding in Scotland.
What is my most treasured possession?
My books maybe? I can’t really think of anything else.
What is my most marked characteristic?
That I am a creative person, who works hard to achieve their goals.
What is my most inspirational location, in my city?
I don’t live in a city, just a small town at the west coast of Scotland. The surrounding nature is very inspirational though.
What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city?
I do not often eat out, especially not in my own town. I also love to try out new places and not stick to one single place all the time. The atmosphere is important and I prefer an unusual and individual café or restaurant over a standard franchise.
What books influenced my life and how?
The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan is a big influence. It was my first big major fantasy series that I read, and I fell in love with it. It also made me realise how good stories can help people overcome difficult times or just feel good and entertained and this series made me realise I wanted to create stories too. But as I love reading, there are so many more titles I could name. I will only name one more, which is a big love and inspiration in my life. Harry Potter.
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?
Maybe it is cheesy, but I recently discovered BTS. And the BTS fans (ARMY) say, you do not find BTS, BTS finds you when you need them the most. And it is true. The music made me happy, and the members personalities made me happy too. So, I actually think, I would like to listen to them, just to be happy on my last day on earth.
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?
Oh, there are a lot of strong characters. If we narrow it down to female main characters, I might go with Katniss Everdeen. One main male character I really like was Thomas from The Maze Runner series.
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?
My family and my friends and also my lecturers from college and university and of course many great actors and writers and directors too. The list would be long to name them all. But I look up to these people.
Which movie would I recommend to see once in a lifetime?
Interstellar is one of my all-time favourites. Again, there are still so many I could recommend.
What role play stories in my life and work?
Stories are my life, my passion. It is my job to create stories. And stories inspire me, to create stories.
What do the words ‘You are the storyteller of your own life’ to me?
That I have the chance to make my life interesting and beautiful and create my own life the way I want it to be, so that if anyone ever write a book or film about my life, it would be a fascinating and beautiful story for others to know about.
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?
My family and friends. They always believe in me and support me.
Which people or companies would I like to work with?
I would love to work with Amazon studios and HBO. But all the big companies would be great to work with. It depends on the people you work with to create something great. Right now, I would love to work with the writers, cast and crew of Amazon’s Wheel Of Time, as it was always my dream to see my favourite book series come alive.
What project am I looking forward to work on?
I mentioned it before, but the big television show I have developed. This is my biggest life project, and I cannot wait to share it with the world eventually.
Where can you see me or my work?
My written works are not public anywhere, but creative projects I have worked on can be seen on my YouTube account and I often post photos and updates on Instagram too.
What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me?
I will always be a writer. No matter if I will be known or not. I will always write.
Which creative professionals should Peter invite to tell their story?
I feel there are so many strong women out there that have to tell a story and without naming anyone, sometimes you might find a real gemstone by surfing through profiles on social media platforms. I think almost all the women I follow on Instagram have a lot to say and are great role models for future generations of strong women.
