What is the best thing I love about my job? Help people to improve their lives by healing their painful experiences and to help them get to know themselves, so that they can find their inner peace, by empowering them through music, healing sounds and meditation. I am an Holistic Coach and composer, an expert in healing and transformational sounds. I work with women who have gone through unhealthy relationships, because I connect a lot with them due to my personal experiences. Therefore, I help them heal their experiences and transform then into awareness.
And with everyone who needs to improve their quality of life. Music and sound are an incredible vehicle for health. Bringing out the ·Heroine” or “Hero” that everyone has inside is wonderful for me.
What is my idea of happiness? Be at peace with myself. If you are at peace with yourself you are at peace with the world around you. Therefore, no matter what happens around me, I do not get disturbed by it, I remain faithful to myself, and that’s how I make everything return to its normal course. I consciously enjoy everything I do. I am here and now, present in the moment. But if I also do it with my daughters, then it is complete happiness for me. I am a pianist and composer and I use all of my internal work and instruments in the sessions. I play my Gong, tuned in G, my voice, my set of quartz bowls and my Vibria tuning forks, which helps me raise my vibrations and experience pure joy whilst I do it.

What is my biggest fear? For years, I lived in constant fear and anguish, fearing even for my own life and my daughters´ life too. My husband and the girls’ father was violent with us on several levels: psychological, verbal, environmental, economic, physical, etc. But, these things only happen in the privacy of the home and unfortunately, many people and institutions do not want to see it. The easy and comfortable thing to do, is to look the other way and not provide the necessary help, which is
why we are survivors. Now I flow with life. I managed, with a lot of work and effort, to let go of my pain and all my fears. I try to always be consistent with my thoughts, feelings and actions and avoid remaining in the bad, which is still a mental state. It all depends on how we see things. Buddhists say that the greatest fear is the fear of death, that once you transcend it everything can be overcome, and since I have already seen myself in that situation, close to death, more than once, I think that now I just have to live. with courage and determination.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself? How cowardly and afraid I was all those years. I felt guilty, but did nothing, just trying to survive and to escape through music, which flowed in my head in the hardest and most terrifying moments. But all that is over and now, I see it as a learning and an improvement. Now I maintain that flame of positivity, peace and high vibration constantly and daily. Thus, I must always be organized and consistent with my purpose in life, which is to help and
accompany from peace and for peace.
What living people in my profession do I most admire? I have several teachers who have taught me and kept me company me throughout my process, I will not name them in order of preference, as they are all equally important to me… Marta Vela was my teacher, at the International University of La Rioja, in several subjects, such as analysis and orchestration. Now we are friends, and she was the first person who trusted in my abilities. Vicenta Gilsbert was also my professor at the university, of music pedagogy. María Siitara, my teacher in the transformational master, she opened the door for me to see my gifts and abilities as assest to help and improve this world. She awakened my soul to consciousness. Libertad Castro found my light and raised it to the highest Vikrampal, my Gong teacher, of international stature, it is a luxury for me to be his student. Iria Rajal, who taught me the universe of working with tuning forks, with her Vibria method, something incredible! And of course, Jonathan Goldman, precursor and reference in the field of healing through music.
What is my greatest extravagance? I have always lived constrained by social norms and constructs. Now I am beginning to be myself and live fully, which in the world we live in, is already an extravagance for most. I feel like a forest fairy who needs to be free as a human being and therefore happy.
On what occasion would I lie? To save someone’s life. Although I don’t believe that anything good can come from lying. For years I lived in a constant lie, as in a relationship of gender violence there is no place for honesty. Only lies, fear, control and survival are present, disguised as a false fairy tale. We must act from the heart and with honesty so that we can fill our lives with acts and people consistent with that vibration. This way, we can drive away the discomfort that is experienced in the world every day.
What do I dislike most about my job? I like everything, but if I had to say something, it would be the lack of knowledge the people has about what I do, but it is only a matter of explaining it to them and being patient. There are those who do not understand what we, sound therapists, do and that bothers them to the point of even getting angry. But far from giving it importance, I continue with my path, because when we do what we like, we enjoy it and we do it with passion, love and dedication, it is perfect and correct. Therefore, It helps us to improve and transcend those moment of discomfort.
When and where was I happiest in my job? I enjoy each therapy, sound bath, meditation or experience, because each one of them helps me to improve, heal and transcend as much as the person who receives it does. Playing the Gong, using my voice to enter a meditative state or using tuning forks, quartz bowls has no words for me to explain it, even my own musical compositions leave me speachless sometimes. But I remember the first times I did therapy, it was with my colleagues in the CISE project, with whom I was able to heal, learn and transcend my experiences of pain and abuse, as a patient and as a therapist. They allowed me that push towards my professionalization. I am immensely grateful to them.
If you could, what would you change about yourself? Everything that we dislike about ourselves, we must change from within. I believe that with self-knowledge and through meditation we can transcend it. This way, we get to understand why we dislike it and either the discomfort dissipates by changing our perception of it, or it is directly modified. Our self-power is much greater than we imagine. Over the last few years I have been changing many things about myself, now I need to know how to set limits for others with greater determination, I must bring out “the lioness” in me, which has been hidden all my life.
What is my greatest achievement at work? Getting people to relax, even fall asleep. Let them open their hearts to their experiences and share them with me. That your mental, physical and spiritual health improves is priceless and wonderful, and the fact that they allow me to accompany them throughout this process has no words of gratitude. Music is my life, it has always been and using it to improve people’s lives is something incredible. And helping my daughters to improve their lives, to be aware of themselves, to know themselves and to be better people is incredible for me.
Where would I most like to live? Life, or rather my relationship, led me to live in various places, around country Spain, and even abroad, such as Sweden. From each and every one I took away a life experience and a beautiful memory of the place and its people. I now live in my hometown, Gijón, in the north of Spain. A town on the coast of the Cantabrian Sea. I wouldn´t change anything about it, it is my (Celtic) culture, my people and my living space. Although I consider myself a citizen of the world, because I believe that in every place there are wonderful things and people. That’s how I feel.
What is my most prized possession? My daughters and myself. We always forget about ourselves and we are the most important for “us and ourselves.” If we take care of ourselves from the inside and are assertive and consistent with our thoughts, feelings and actions, we will be assertive with others and the world. This way, we can take better care of those around us, being able to offer our best version to the world. Since working on this, my relationship with my daughters has improved
immensely. Thus, we must leave behind that social construct, especially taught to women, that we must give ourselves to others (father, children, husbands…) before ourselves, because otherwise,
we are selfish. No, we are not selfish, we are human and we must be the best version of ourselves and therefore we will be it for the rest of the world.
What is my most marked characteristic? Patience, that’s what my daughters and those who know me always tell me. That’s why I think I like to cultivate my inner peace and thus transmit it to the world, always through music, sound, vibration and silence. Although this has meant setbacks in my life, not everyone understands that even in the storm, peace can be maintained. Only with inner peace and from the heart can we open our eyes to the finite possibilities that the worls has to offer.
If we all stayed calm in times of stress, everything would be very different. We wouldn’t get caught up in our emotions and therefore, there wouldn’t be so many conflicts, accidents, arguments and so on.
What is my most inspiring place in my city? San Lorenzo´s beach. I go there very often, and whenever I can, right before dawn. It is a luxury to see the stars first and the sunrise later, while I meditate and do my asanas and pranayamas (yoga postures and conscious breathing). Then I walk through the water, to feel even more connected to nature. Plus the sound of the sea releases relaxing neurochemicals. We are part of nature and cities make us disconnect from it. Their sounds and noises also dehumanize us little by little. That is why feeling and listening to what is natural, like a forest or the sea, reconnects us with who we are, with our being.
What is my favorite place to eat and drink in my city? I have several, like the stall,s if I go with my daughters. But without a doubt, I will stay with Macondo, where I meet with my friends to talk and have delicious breakfasts. It is a magical moment for me, we generate incredible energy with our conversations and our laughter.
What books influenced my life and how? I will make a brief selection: The silence. The Power of Stillness in a Noisy World by Thich Nhat Hanh. With her I began my spiritual path, and learnt how to enter within myself and to see silence as a very important part of our mind. To live from love and compassion for the world, starting from yourself. Healing Sounds by Jonathan Goldman. A staple in my profession, a reference author and specialist whom I admire. The power of now by Eckhart Tolle. We always wander with our thoughts to yesterday or tomorrow, but the only thing that really exists is now. Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkila Est. Delve into being women, into the
fairy tales that mistold us, into the nature of our feminine energy and how to know how to balance it. The Law of the Mirror by Yoshinori Noguchi. Understanding how what bothers me about others is what I have to change in myself. Learn to forgive others and yourself.
You only die once. What music would I listen to on my last day? Music is my life and it accompanies me every day in very diverse forms and styles, but without a doubt, Meditation, from the opera Thäis by Jules Massenet.
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? I love Wonder Woman.
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life? My mother was always my safe refuge and my light and even from heaven she is. My daughters, because through them and with them, I learned not to give up on anything and fight for everything. But I believe that each and every one of us has a hero inside, you just have to want to bring it out. We must look at our past fears and failures to overcome them, transcend them and shine with our own light.
What movie would you recommend watching once in your life? Pride and Prejudice, I think it reflects very well the inequality that still exists between men and women. How social constructs confine us according to sex. It also shows how we allow ourselves to be influenced by appearances and by what we believe things should be, but in reality they are totally different.
What role do stories play in my life and work? Life is made up of many stories that intertwine. Those that we tell ourselves and swarm through our minds and our subconscious, those that we live and those that the people around us live and all of them intertwine and share energies.
Who is my biggest fan, sponsor and accomplice? My daughters are my biggest fans, also my biggest inspiration. I feel very grateful for my friends and psychologists at CISE, for their unconditional support and encouragement, and to all my teachers and professors for their teachings and showing their trust in me. As well as all my family, my friends, who are always there unconditionally, although I was not able to see it until very recently. To each of my friends, because they were always there, even though at the time, I didn’t see it. For a long time I was socially isolated, I allowed them to do it and it is something I would never repeat.
What people or companies would I like to work with? I am currently part of a mentor group of entrepreneurs at the Transformational School, I carry out individual healing therapies and group workshops at the Retamas Center in Gijón, I am practitioner of the vibria methodf, l also through CISE we work on the Gender Ctrol+Z project, giving dynamics to adolescents about healthy and unhealthy relationships, which is very successful. A dream would be to play alongside my Gong teacher, Vikrampal, in a sound bath and be able to learn much more from him. But I am sure that on this path of entrepreneurship, healing and transformational music I will meet wonderful people to work with and accompany.
What project do I want to work on? I have my venture “Susana Shakti, the power of transformational and conscious sound” underway, where my maxim is “expand your light, embrace the pleasure of living.” Along with my YouTube channel where I upload my healing compositions, as well as tips on improving your life through sound. Grow and create enough authority to be able to help more people every day to find their peace, improve their quality of life and shine with their own light.

What do the words “Passion never dies” mean to me? When you do what you truly like, you do it with passion and it lasts over time, then, far from “dying”, you are reborn every day with what you do, you continue to transform and improve yourself more and more every day.

Marina Retamas, Rocio Fernandez-Oronoz , Iria Rajal, Etela Garrigues Rivera, Jorge Campos, Samantha Di Prospero, Camila ,María Siitara y Vanesa Hridaya y Libertad Castro Cano.
