The Heroine’s Journey of Ely Prudence Kinczyski

What is the best thing that I love about my work?

To EX-ist.

My first self-acceptance therapy, the one that allows me to best release my emotional burdens, to better explore myself, analyze myself, adapt, control myself.

The biggest choice of my life, the most courageous as well as the most wonderful, a journey where waiting does not suffer from any boredom, through the taste for risk, renewal and adventure.

Above all, interpreting complex characters, the most impossible, challenging my limits, I have a penchant for characters who don’t resemble me.

To have several jobs, several lives, several houses, several characters, several psychologies, several loves, to go through time, to transform myself permanently, to die, to live again, to live better.

End up immortalized, never die. Art is a love and it is eternal.

What is my idea of happiness?

Remain transparent and honest, even if it is not easy to express your needs & limits.

Always see the good in the worst, transform the negative into positive, erase the faults of others by constantly working on your own, soften in the face of clumsy but well-intentioned people, while absolutely turning your back on betrayal, manipulation and lies.

Always keep in mind that nothing is ever taken for granted, that no one is superior to anyone and that the smallest thing that seems so usual, each step taken in life is fleeting.

Misfortune happens to everyone, for me happiness consists of appreciating what we have.

Be in alignment with yourself and with others, do what you like to do, with whom and how you want, because life is unique and precious and is not meant to be wasted.

What is my greatest fear?

Not being loved for who I really am.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?

My perfectionism and extreme generosity make me constantly hesitate and err on the side of excess.

Which living persons in my profession do i most admire?

Actors : Isabelle Huppert, Fabrice Luchini, Vincent Lindon, Sylvie Testud, Marina Foïs, Sara Forestier, Guillaume Galienne, Pio Marmaï, Maïween, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Vanessa Paradis, Victoria Abril, Benoît Poelvorde, Amira Casar, Anne Consigny, Jacques Gamblin, Catherine Frot, Fanny Ardan, Gérard Lanvin, Clint Eastwood, Albert Dupontel, Marion Cotillard, Agnès Soral, Daniel Auteuil, Gérard Jugnot, Thierry Lhermitte, Julien Boisselier, Eddy Murphy, Jim Carrey, Cate Blanchett, Keanu Reeves, Sean Penn.

Directors : Roman Polanski, Woody Allen, Clint Eastwood, Paweł Pawlikowski, Chris Kraus, Max Barron et Michael Woodward, Christian Petzold, Alanté Kavaïté, Eytan Fox, Emir Baigazin, François Ozon, Michael Haneke, Claude Lelouch, Pedro Almodovar, Tim Burton, Margarethe von Trotta, Hayao Miyazaki, Dai Sijie, Wong Kar-Wai, Stéphane Brizé, Emmanuel Bourdieu, Anders Morgenthaler, Hans Weingartner, Steve Lightfoot, Michel Gondry, Patrick Bouchitey, Diego Governatori, Didier Haudepin, Sylvain Chaumet, Jean-Pierre Jeuney, Paul Thomas Anderson, Joel Coen, Joel Schumacher, Mitchel Lichtenstein, Gavin Hood, Bennet Miller, Steven Shainberg, Darren Aronofsky, Brad Bird, Nick Hamm, Jean-Marc Vallée, Diane Kurys, Dennis Gansel, Dominik Moll, Cédric Klapisch, Michel Spinosa, Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, Roy Andersson, Mike Nichols.

What is my greatest extravagance?

What seems extravagant to some, is not to others.

If the concern for invention and originality constantly drives me, I do not find the oddities that many attribute to me, I will therefore be incapable of responding, being also too perfectionist to stop my creative approach, in perpetual evolution .

On what occasion would I lie?

Not tolerating lies myself and quite incapable of lying despite my inclination to do stupid things, I will not promote him.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?

Those cowards who don’t do what they say without expressing feelings of guilt.

These opportunists who exploit and take advantage of others without any recognition.

These often pretentious egoists who sorely lack elegance and generosity.

These megalomaniacs working in manipulation and contempt for the talents of others.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work?

Each shoot is always a great moment of sharing, a new enrichment source of joy and intense pleasure.

The filming of “Adieu les amants” was until then my greatest revelation and professional pride, due to the slow, deep introspective work methodically carried out several months in advance under the singular and meticulous direction of director Emiliano Minutelli.

If I could, what would I change about myself?

My excessive side.

As a director, I will delegate and relieve my slightly crazy sprawling Shiva side, eager to learn more by taking charge of everything on my own. This would spare me the painful dilemma between continuing to shoot new films and editing the old ones that remain unfinished.

As an actress, I will really stick to my work as an interpreter, because certain directors often ask me to go beyond, enlisting me as a caster, decorator, at HMC etc.

I also have a problem with physical contact at home, making me dread hair and makeup sessions.

Generally, being less wild, perhaps trusting others more.

What is my greatest achievement in work?

I liked all the films in which I was able to act to varying degrees, the one which gave me the most sensations after several rounds of casting and rehearsals remains “Adieu les amants” by Émiliano Minutelli.

I was also particularly pleased to be able to work in Germany, having been mysteriously passionate about the German language since the age of 9. I would like to continue my career internationally.

Where would I most like to live?

Berlin or a very wild green place where I can give free rein to my daily wanderings and regenerate.

What is my most treasured possession?

My righteousness.

What is my most marked characteristic?

My nose, my height.

At 13, my mother suggested growth hormones to me, at 15, my father suggested nose surgery, I lost my eyelashes and eyebrows several times, which is not in the standards for finding roles. Pure beauty is wild and is tamed from the inside. Liz Taylor had two rows of eyelashes, the Mona Lisa did not have any, thanks to them, we realize to what extent cutting ourselves off can take us so far from the main thing. Let’s let these monsters that possess us emerge, because they are worth it.

What is my most inspirational location, in my city?

Wasteland places, in the wild. I love space, spaces rich in green leafy trees.

I particularly like weeping willows, woods, autumn and spring.

In all cases, raw nature, where I lie down entirely alone, with the surrounding fauna and flora as my only company.

What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city?

Biosphere café

What books influenced my life and how?

« Au bonheur des dames » by Émile Zola: coming from a family of weavers, I can only be sensitive to this work, a lesson in seduction and satire of opulence, whose idea of elegance and desire is a fabric of simplicity outside of any erotic-consumerist dehumanization.

« Ainsi parlait Zarathoustra » by Friedrich Nietsche: Magnificent moral guide of thoughts that are poetic, philosophical, visionary, to reconcile oneself with one’s deep values in relation to a human condition which is intended to be positive.

« Si c’est un homme » by Primo Levi: Raise awareness and remind myself of the ordeal of my deported ancestors.

« Anleitung zum Unglücklichsein » by Paul Watzlavick: overcoming one’s moods, transforming them into something positive, de-dramatizing all everyday situations, facilitating a better understanding of interpersonal relationships.

« La Vénus d’Ille » by Prosper Mérimée: Doing justice to art and more precisely to the representation of women in all their splendor.

« Comment devenir un bodhisattva » by Selim Aïssel

You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?

Chopin Ballade n. 1 op. 23 – Giovanni Bellucci, piano https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqiJoSZmCww

Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?

Ichi, the samurai woman by Fumihiko Sori, Mystique in X-men, Trinity in Matrix, the creature Splice by Vincenzo Natali fascinate me.

I also particularly appreciate the interpretations of Isabelle Huppert in “La pianiste”, Dominique Blanc in La Reine Margot, Catherine Froh in “Odette tout le monde”, Yolande Moreau in “Séraphine”, Anne Consigny in “Je ne suis pas là pour to be loved”, Fanny Ardan in the woman next door, Penelopee Cruz in “A corps perdus”, Julija Steponaityte in “The Summer of Sangaile”.

Hannah Arrendt by Margarette von Trotta, Hannah Herzsprung in Four Minutes by Chris Kraus.

Cate Blanchett in “The Lord of the Rings”, Meryl Strepp in “The Giver”, Nicole Kidman in “Dogville”.

Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?

My mother ! A queen. A model of an incredible woman, radiant, hyperactive, sporty, entirely devoted to her family.

My father who died in 2017 is my only hero, always present in my heart, you can see him here playing the role of Judge Djian sentencing Omar to 17 years of criminal imprisonment: https://www.youtube.com/watch ?v=8KQF4Bc6qSQ

Excellent actor who aspired to become a street singer.

All the directors, who trusted me and whose teamwork and friendship stands the test of time.

Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime?

My preferences generally go to those stamped with the Berlin bear, to German cinema (Hannah Arendt, Barbara, Hotel by J. Hausner, Four Minutes, The Wave, the Lives of Others), to Eastern cinema (Ida, Summer of sangaile, Harmony lesson), Asian (Audition, Spring summer autumn winter and spring, Real, the house with the red roof), at the atypical auteur cinema (They, Quelle Folie by Diego Governatori, I’m not there to be loved, Anna M., The Woman Next Door), futuristic SF (The Giver, Splice, think (Orlan). I idolize Ozon, Haneke (the pianist), all Polanski’s films (met in real life), many German, Nordic films (You will walk on water, We the living, Princess by Anders Morgenthaler), Italian (La piel que habito, a beautiful ending), Canadian (Xavier Dolan in his beginnings), American (the insurgents, Fur, The others, Dogville, the son of man, Everyone’s Going To Die) from memory, impossible to mention them all…

What role play stories in my life and work?

The role of Isabelle Huppert in “The Pianist”

The role of Catherine Deneuve in “Repulsion”

What do the words ‘You are the storyteller of your own life’ to me?

The only person who can stop you from doing what you want to do is you!

The thing that I am most proud of is having been able to overcome family and societal conditioning, in controlling my compulsive faults of youth by intuitively perceiving the appropriate applicable strategies.

Becoming the author of your life means having the courage to follow your heart and realign yourself on a daily basis with our deepest self, which will make us a full-fledged actor of life in all its splendor.

Being the author of your life means giving yourself the means to do what you love to do, because in life, you only do well what you love to do.

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me?

Passion is or is not, just as there are no emotions without passion, in the same way, without it, there could be no creation.

Only passion can make our commitment indestructible and immortal. If the latter can change over time, it takes on a polymorphic identity character that is both stimulating and eternal. A true passion never dies in my opinion, in the sense that it is more harmonious than obsessive. True enthusiasts know this and also understand that it is a privilege that transcends them without escaping their control.
