What is the best thing I love about my job?
I am a painter and I love the independence of my work.
What is my idea of happiness?
For me, happiness is a kind of inner satisfaction that lasts over a long period of time.
What is my biggest fear?
I am not a fearful person, but the rising cost of living in Germany makes me a little afraid of the future.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?
Unfortunately, artists often make decisions too emotionally and later regret the decision or what they said. But I’m working on myself.
Which living persons in my profession do I most admire?
I admire my private teacher, the Flemish painter, sculptor and art teacher Jan Maria Dondeyne.
What is my greatest extravagance?
Elegant clothing that doesn’t have to be expensive and vacation trips to exotic countries.
On what occasion would I lie?
To protect someone I love.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?
As an artist, I also do portraits from time to time, so I don’t like the fact that clients often want a painted photograph.
When and where was I the happiest, in my work?
I am happiest in my studio, where I can devote myself entirely to my art and only paint what makes me happy, i.e. no commissioned work.
If I could, what would I change about?
I would like to be a little more patient and have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. But otherwise I’m at peace with myself now.
What is my greatest achievement in work?
In 2016, my painting “Matterhorn with Rainbow” was featured in the movie “A Hologram for the King” with Tom Hanks. In 2018, my illustrated art book “Art, Eroticism and Image Symbolism – The Strengths of Female Energy” was published.
Where would I most like to live?
Where it is warm, preferably on the Spanish coast.
What is my most treasured possession?
My own house with a garden as an oasis of peace and relaxation.
What is my most marked characteristic?
My empathy for other people and creativity.
What is my most inspirational location, in my city?
I live in a beautiful historic old town. The place that inspires me the most is our old castle complex with the underground fortifications.
What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city?
I like to go to our neighboring town to eat and drink at an Italian restaurant.
What books influenced my life and how?
The book “The Journeys of the Soul” by Dr. Michael Newton had a big influence on me after a trip to India. I got fascinating answers to many questions. However, new questions have arisen since then.
The books “Thalus of Athos” by Alf Jasinski and the books “The Treasure Mountain” (Der Schatzberg) by Radu Cinemar.
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?
I don’t believe that you only die once. I’ve had many lives. But I hope this will be my last life because I don’t want to go back into the wheel of reincarnation. As far as I know, we are trapped in the reincarnation loop. At least that’s my view of life on this earth.
On my last day, I would like to hear the song “Islands in the Stream” by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?
I live in the present and don’t need a hero or heroine in fiction.
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?
For me there are no real heroes. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses.
Which movie would I recommend to see once in a lifetime?
I was fascinated by the movie “Avatar”. It was not just the 3D technology, but also the depth and liveliness of the film. If you study the hidden history of humanity, you could see parallels to this.
What role play stories in my life and work?
Stories make us human. They allow us to connect with the world and with ourselves and bring meaning to our lives.
What do the words “You are the storyteller of your own life” to me?
For me, that means taking control of your own life and thereby finding more clarity and satisfaction.
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?
I still have to figure that out.
What project am I looking forward to work on?
I am self-employed and am now looking forward to working with an art agency in Brazil.
