What is the best thing that I love about my work?
The best thing that I love about my work is the freedom to express myself through music and lyrics. Whether it’s a broken heart, depression or disappointment, love and joy or just a beautiful day or experience – all can be poured into a song.
What is my idea of happiness?
The love I receive from friends and family and knowing that they’re happy and healthy. I’m also truly happy when those that listen to my music can relate to my songs and find strength through their message.

What is my greatest fear?
The fear of failure and disappointing those that I love.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?
I have battled with insecurities my entire life but find that the older I get the less I care so much about them.

What is my greatest extravagance?
Chocolate. I love chocolate.
On what occasion would I lie?
I would lie to protect those that I love from being hurt or to keep them safe.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?
I dislike the fact that musical artists aren’t paid fairly for their work. If it wasn’t for us there would be no music to listen to and music is so very important to so many people.
When and where was I the happiest, in my work?
I was happiest performing with my band “Diamond and The RUFF” which formed around 2003 and working with my producers Roberto Philipp and Cynthia Knight on my album “Rise” shortly thereafter.
If I could, what would I change about myself?
Having the courage to make changes in my life that I know must be made.
What is my greatest achievement in work?
I’ve been told that my songs have provided strength and inspiration to some who have gone through some tough times in their lives. If I “reach” someone in a song and it’s relatable to them and gives them strength and inspiration, then that is my greatest achievement.
Where would I most like to live?
I grew up in Nova Scotia, Canada and have since moved to Ontario, Canada. I loved living in Nova Scotia and would go back there to live in a heartbeat. The scenery is breathtaking, the people are beautiful and the lifestyle is pure and simple.
What is my most treasured possession?
My guitar is my most treasured possession. Whether I’m happy, sad, or angry I can always pick up my guitar and craft a song for instant therapy.
What is my most marked characteristic?
I think my family might tell you I’m stubborn. I guess that comes with being a Taurus. I’m thankful for the man in my life whose patience is paramount in putting up with it. LOL.
What is my most inspirational location, in my city?
Point Pelee in Leamington, Ontario, Canada is beautiful on a sunny day and sometimes if we’re lucky, we can spend some time there without a person in sight and just enjoy the beauty alone.
What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city?
My favorite place to eat and drink in my city is at home with my husband as he is an amazing cook.
What books influenced my life and how?
Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt was the best book I’ve ever read. His ability to write through the eyes of a child was truly inspiring. I found it inspirational because it enhanced the importance of painting my own pictures through music.
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?
I would listen to Michael Martin Murphey’s song “Wildfire”. I love that song.
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?
Andy Dufresne in Shawshank Redemption is my hero. He never gave up despite the mounting odds against him.
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?
My father and mother. They’re my biggest fans and encouraged me as a child to embrace the wonderful world of music.

What role play stories in my life and work?
Stories are paramount in my line of work. I’m inspired by life stories whether they’re my own or someone else’s. They’re my motivation to write songs. A good story can help a songwriter craft a painting in a song with vivid imagery and emotional symbolism.
What do the words ‘You are the storyteller of your own life’ to me?
As songwriters WE ARE THE STORYTELLERS OF OUR OWN LIFE. If we’re not, then we’re not doing our job effectively. Songwriting is all about reaching inside yourself and being vulnerable enough to truly tell your story.
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?
Next to my parents, my husband Ron is my greatest fan, sponsor and partner in crime. When I write a song – he’s honest about his opinion – sometimes brutally so. He’s the first to say “I know you can do better”. On the other hand, he’s also the first to proudly share my work with others.
