What is the best thing that I love about my work?
First of all, it is essential to explain what my job is: Maria Marchese is a poet, struggling with the writing of her first novel, so also a writer; I work as an art curator, art critic, cultural divulger and art influencer. Recently, I made my debut as an accessories designer with my brand “CharmOsa by Maria Marchese,” with a series of iconic jewel bags, “ Chaturanga ”, with Valerio Salvadori, a Florentine master goldsmith and designer, as well as several lines of jewelry, caps, all handmade and born following the concept of upcycling. What do I love about this? Art itself, first and foremost, which is an inescapable pivot in my life, and the possibilities it gives me to put myself out there, discover myself, evolve and marvel at my abilities, meet new particular people and be a conduit between people culture and art.
What is my idea of happiness?
To see that time has fructified what I have sown, in every aspect of my life. I think that time is a fundamental value and I have absolute respect for it, of my own and others’; I choose to whom I devote it and how I spend it, so that my existence has deep meaning, of inner, human, professional growth … and can also improve the lives of others.
What is my greatest fear?
I love silence, but I dread the moments of stasis, that is, those moments when nothing seems to happen. In fact, it is then those periods after which everything swings into right place.
What is thetrait that I most deplore in myself?
Rigor: I am very demanding of myself. This leads me not to compromise even at times when I am very tired.
Which living persons in my profession do i most admire?
I feel a great fascination with talent and all forms of genius—far beyond bravura; holding various roles, I could mention poets, writers, designers, art critics, people of culture. I find Pierfranco Bruni, a writer nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature, to be a great pen, as well as an excellent mind. As for design, I would mention Giorgio Armani.

What is my greatest extravagance?
Belief. I believe in miracles, in signs, that thought creates… on my table I put what I consider significant and portheur de bonheur, that I find or that is given to me (be it hard stones with a symbolic value, a number found on the ground, a Tic Tic box, full of trinkets, given to me by a little girl (those are our wishes – they come true when we draw them out – ), an ancient book… Works of art themselves, for me, have a propitiatory value. I think that nothing happens by chance and that we are the architects of our happiness and good fortune.
On what occasion would I lie?
To protect another person from suffering.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?
The having to compromise; in fact, I find every way to be able to do it consistently. Currently, art and talent are being sacrificed in favor of merchandising, of a mechanism without filters and cognition: all of which leads to nullifying art itself. This happens in many areas.
When and where was I the happiest, in my work?
My work makes me happy all the time: when I present an exhibition, when I talk to artists, when I write an article about them and they recognize themselves in the text, when I write a poem, make an artifact, when I do research and talk about a content, present my own book or am prefacing other people’s books, the moment people who follow me interact with me about what I propose. I understand, then, that everything works well.
If I could, what would I change about myself?
I would change the lack of entrepreneurship. While normality would like planning, I live by intuitions that become concrete.
What is my greatest achievement in work?
The one that is coming.
Where would I most like to live?
Exactly where I am. If I were to move, I would always want land, countryside and silence around.
What is my most treasured possession?
Besides myself (if you do not consider yourself as such nothing makes sense), the living beings that gravitate around me (few) and those who will be part of my existence.
What is my most marked characteristic?
Tenacity.
What is my most inspirational location, in my city?
The endless countryside.
What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city?
Living in a small hamlet, there are not many establishments. Often, I take my guests to a restaurant, “Lupo De Lupis ”, where the food is really good, the wine list is quite sophisticated and the staff exquisite.
What books influenced my life and how?
There is no one book that has influenced my life. I love some writers/authors particularly: D’Annunzio, Pirandello, G. Ceronetti, P. Daverio. But I could mention others.
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?
I would like the voice of Piath, or classical music.
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?
I really loved H. Hepburn and several actors from the past; I love the performances of R. De Niro, Al Pacino and A. Rohrwacher. P. Cortellesi.
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?
He who gives what he loves and not what he does not need.
Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime?
There are many art films, which deserve to be seen, for the plot, performances, music, sets. I love rewatching Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Wonderful World of Amelie, and A Very Good Year. I love happy endings, can’t you tell?

What role play stories in my life and work?
They are lymph for the writing and poetry part. As for art, they are often incisive in being able to understand an artist’s changes and be able to talk about them in a relevant and effective way.
What do the words ‘You are the storyteller of your own life’ to me?
It suggests to me that we should not allow others’ judgment to take over and that, as I have said before, we are the authors of our own lives.
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?
They are diverse: from the artists who entrust me with their artistic journey to the various collaborations. Among them Valerio Salvadori and Redò Florence 1989 , Riccardo Chiaveri and Cormaf , his company, with whom Leschiccherie was born, in featuring with my brand, as well as the novel. Interesting collaborations always arise…among them, I can spoil the growing relationship of esteem born with Mario Tacinelli , an art curator from Rome, with whom we have already sat down to plan new events in 2025

What project am I looking forward to work on?
After the publication of Scrivo t,amo , my third poetry collection, and the 3’ reprint of “ Le scarpe rosse – Tra tumultuoso mare e placide acque “ , I am writing a 4’, about love and eroticism, as I look forward to finishing this first erotic novel. As of this year, I am an art critic for the Académie Europèenne des Arts in Treviso as well as the artistic director of the Film & Art festival Luchino Visconti 2025, for contemporary art: yet another exciting experience! The growth of acclaim for my channels and interaction with the public, especially of the project Sedotti dall’Arte di Maria Marchese pushes me to create more and more researched content. More exhibitions await me, in 2025, as curator; likewise, I look forward to making new products.

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me?
Passion is the key ingredient for the success of any project, work or otherwise, combined, of course, with skills and great commitment.
Even when you would like to drop everything due to contingent situations, passion prevents you from doing so.
