What is the best thing that I love about my work?
I love the ability to express myself freely through my art. I also enjoy hearing other people’s thoughts and interpretations of my work.
What is my idea of happiness?
My idea of happiness is simple – being with my loved ones in my safe space.

What is my greatest fear?
My greatest fear is living an unfulfilled life and not having anyone to share it with.
What trait do I most deplore in myself?
Impulsivity is a trait that I least like. As I have grown older, I have worked on this, learning how to handle impulsivity in various ways, including researching alternative solutions and developing self-awareness and patience.
Which living persons in my profession do I most admire?
Local artists in today’s art market should be admired. The art market seems to be trending downward, with AI art and NFT scams flooding the market, and it’s easy to be overlooked and give up. However, there are a ton of local artists who continue to pursue their passion and make art despite challenges, and that definitely inspires me!
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?
I dislike going through creative blocks. It prevents me from working on existing pieces (any edits to a canvas during a creative block just looks wrong). It also stalls the creation of new ideas/works. It may also stops me from making marketing efforts if it’s a particularly large block.
When and where was I the happiest, in my work?
I feel I am happiest right now in my work. I believe I am finding myself as an artist while having fun creating art. There may be some works that are better than others, but that is ok. The most important thing is that I am making art how I want to create it, and getting it out to there for others to see it.
If I could, what would I change about myself?
I don’t think I would change anything about myself. I am at a point in my life where my choices and decisions have led me to where I am today, and I am (and should be) ok with that.
What is my greatest achievement in work?
My greatest achievement was my first group exhibition in 2024 shortly after I created Starina’s Art. It was with Influx Gallery, based in London, England; it was an online exhibition entitled Perpetual. I had never been featured in a group or solo exhibition prior to this, so it was very exciting to be in one for the first time!
Where would I most like to live?
I was born, grew up, and currently live in New England. I may be biased, but I believe this is a great area to live given its varied history and culture. It would be a great experience to possibly live in Canada one day.
What is my most treasured possession?
My creativity.

What is my most marked characteristic?
My creativity.
What is my most inspirational location, in my city?
Benefit Street, in Providence, Rhode Island, has always been a favorite place to visit, and I believe you can draw plenty of inspiration from here. The mile-long street has a collection of Colonial and Federalist houses that are impressive to look at (including one that is the inspiration for H.P. Lovecraft’s The Shunned House). It also has other buildings/institutions to see and visit, such as the Providence Athenaeum, RI Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission, the Barker Playhouse, the Marine Corps Arsenal, and other cultural and historical institutions on neighboring streets.
What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city?
I actually don’t have a favorite place in my city, but I would highly recommend The Griswold Inn in Essex, Connecticut, which is just a little over an hour away from me. It has a very storied history, having opened its doors in 1776, and remains one of the oldest continuously operated inns in the United States.
What books influenced my life and how?
Bram Stoker, Dracula and William Shakespeare, The Tragedie of Macbeth
These were required readings in high school English class.
But it was also at this time that I was discovering my interests and hobbies.
The themes in these assigned readings (witchcraft, vampires, ritual and superstition) helped create part of the foundation of the interests and hobbies that I enjoy today.
Joyce Carol Oates, A Widow’s Story
While I am not a widow, it did help with processing grief during a very emotional time in my life.
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?
You can never go wrong with 80s pop and 90s alternative! Go out with some of your nostalgic favorites.
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?
I don’t really have one.
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?
Human rights/grassroots activists. They play an active role in ensuring marginalized voices are heard and fight to make sure laws are put through that provide protections for all.
Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime?
I would recommend Metropolis, a 1927 German expressionist film directed by Fritz Lang. I first saw it in an English survey college course, and it was a huge influence for my love of abstraction and dark surrealism.
What role play stories in my life and work?
My role as an artist allows me to be creative in my life and the works I produce. Art tells a story, and as an artist, I am given an opportunity to bring those stories to life and share it with the world.
What do the words ‘You are the storyteller of your own life’ to me?
You are the only person who has lived your life, and lived your own experiences. The details of your life and what you’ve been through are unique, and you are the only person who can share them as you’ve lived them.
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?
My spouse has and continues to be my biggest supporter.

What project am I looking forward to working on?
I am excited for my first solo show, which will be hosted by Tapiial Virtual, based in Santiago, Chile. It will feature my cemetery photography.
Where can you see me or my work?

Social media (all listed on my Linktree): https://www.linktr.ee/starinasart
My website has a “Current Events” page where you can keep up-to-date on everything I have going

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me?
The desire or interest in something goes beyond what might be considered a “hobby” or a “trend” or a “fad”. If this ‘something’ is truly one’s passion, then no matter what obstacle stops one from pursuing it, there will always be some way to reconnect the person and the passion. The person will always dedicate a modicum of time and adaptability, even for just a glimmer of pursuing it.
