The Heroine’s Journey of Amela Kurz

What is the best thing that I love about my work? The freedom to turn emotion into something visible. My work allows me to translate feelings, ideas, and inner movement into something that others can see, feel, and connect with. That connection is everything to me.

What is my idea of happiness? Happiness is health, family, and a fulfilled life. It is waking up with purpose, having the freedom to grow, and ending the day in gratitude—at peace with myself and my family.

What is my greatest fear? Living a life that feels safe but unfinished. I fear regret more than failure.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself? I’m often very hard on myself. I set my own expectations extremely high, often higher than I would ever set for others. It can be challenging, but it’s also a part of who I am — something that drives me, helps me grow, and matters deeply to me because quality and responsibility are important to me.

Which living persons in my profession do i most admire? I deeply admire people who manage to stay true to themselves while succeeding. Those who grow, evolve, and achieve their goals without losing their values, integrity, or empathy truly inspire me.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work? What I dislike most about my work is egoism and the lack of genuine support. I find it difficult when people are driven by jealousy and prefer to hold others back instead of encouraging growth. Working with individuals who act out of unfounded hatred or negativity is especially challenging. I strongly believe in collaboration and mutual respect—progress comes from working together, not against one another.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work? I was happiest in my work in the moments when I could see that my work truly touched someone. When I could feel that connection—that quiet ‘you understood me’ moment. I am especially fulfilled when I see that I was able to make people happy, to be a source of support or inspiration for them. All of this makes me happy—the smiling faces of both children and adults.

If I could, what would I change about myself? I would learn to trust myself sooner and recognize progress instead of constantly chasing perfection. I’ve come to understand that growth doesn’t happen through flawlessness, but through consistency, reflection, and the courage to move forward.

What is my greatest achievement in work? My greatest professional achievement is every single day I get up and continue working on my ideas. I started small—just like every successful company once did—and I grow step by step. My goal is to constantly improve, learn, and evolve. Ultimately, my greatest achievement is that I keep moving forward, stay committed to my vision, and never give up.

Where would I most like to live? I love living in Switzerland. This is where my career and my personal as well as professional development began. At the same time, I truly enjoy traveling for work, as it allows me to experience different cultures and gain new perspectives. As a result, home feels to me not just like a geographical place, but like a space filled with light, energy, and stability, deeply rooted, yet open to the world.

What is my most treasured possession? That is a good question, as the value of what we possess differs for every person. For me, my greatest treasure is my family. I am fortunate to have their unconditional support on every path I choose, without judgment, but with trust, love, and understanding. Having people who truly believe in me gives me the stability and strength to make bold decisions and to pursue my path with confidence.

What is my most marked characteristic? Passion guided by empathy. My drive comes from acting with full conviction while truly understanding people, situations, and needs. This balance between inner fire and empathy shapes my work and allows me to lead in a sustainable, responsible, and impactful way.

What is my most inspirational location, in my city? In quiet places where I can observe, feel, and reflect. As a dancer, I sense energy, movement, and emotion; as an entrepreneur, I recognize structures, dynamics, and opportunities. In this stillness, ideas unfold naturally, through the interplay of intuition, observation, and clarity.

What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city? I don’t have a single favorite place to eat or drink. I feel comfortable wherever the atmosphere is calm and not chaotic. I can find good food and drinks almost anywhere, as long as I can enjoy them in a relaxed setting and have meaningful conversations with people.

What books influenced my life and how? I read books that support my personal growth and help me find inner calm. I am particularly inspired by books about the universe and broader perspectives. This kind of reading allows me to step away from everyday life, slow down, and momentarily leave the hustle and bustle behind, creating space for clarity, reflection, and new insights.

You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day? Music that feels like freedom, music that lets my body speak when words fall short. Songs that carry soul, memory, and love. I would listen to ( A Change Is Gonna Come ) for its quiet strength and hope, ( Feeling Good ) for the deep breath of liberation it gives me, and ( Redemption Song ) for its timeless reminder of truth and humanity. Music that connects me to my roots, my family, my journey and allows me to move, feel, and simply be.

Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? I feel especially drawn to characters who aren’t perfect but have the courage to reinvent themselves again and again. People like Erin Brockovich, who follow their inner voice, or Rocky Balboa, who never stop believing despite setbacks. They remind me that true strength often begins quietly and grows through character and conviction.

Who are my heroes and heroines in real life? My real-life hero is my son. A young man who walks his own path and never gives up. He stays true to who he is, never pretending to be someone else just because society expects it. With his vision, inner strength, and loving nature, he reminds me every day of what true integrity, courage, and humanity really mean.

Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime? Billy Elliot. It’s a powerful reminder to follow your passion, even when it goes against expectations. The film shows how courage, discipline, and staying true to yourself can change not.

What role play stories in my life and work? Stories give meaning to what we do. They connect past, present, and future, making growth and transformation tangible. Through stories, we understand where we come from, what drives us today, and where we are heading. They are more than words—they carry values, emotions, and vision, giving deeper purpose to work, decisions, and progress.

What do the words ‘You are the storyteller of your own life’ to me? This responsibility and this freedom are mine. Every step I take and every decision I make becomes part of the story told about my life. That is why I choose my path in a way that fulfills me and brings me happiness. I decide the narrative, the risks, and the legacy, being the storyteller of my own life, not letting others define it.

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? The people who believe in me even when I hesitate, my inner circle.

Which people or companies would I like to work with? As I am transitioning my company into a GmbH this year and developing it into a franchise model, I see great potential in strategic partnerships with strong global brands and creative leaders. The company is structured as a holding, under which a dance workout concept, an online shop, and independent fashion labels are developed. A collaboration with Nike would be especially exciting, with the vision of creating a dedicated dance and fitness collection that merges performance, style, and identity. In addition, I would love to collaborate with international artists as a choreographer or to welcome them as strategic partners or investors in my company. Creative partnerships with artists such as Rihanna, Pink, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, or Nicki Minaj could elevate my creative work while creating long-term, global impact. My goal is to build meaningful collaborations that unite culture, movement, brand, and entrepreneurship in an authentic and sustainable way.

What project am I looking forward to work on? I look forward every day to working on new ideas. At the moment, I am focused on building a holding company and developing the brands under its umbrella. It is a daily challenge that motivates and drives me, and I truly enjoy watching the progress and seeing how visions gradually evolve into solid, sustainable structures.

Where can you see me or my work? Wherever art, movement, and meaning come together—both online and in real life. In my studio, the Dragon Dance Academy, as well as across my social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, through my websites, and within workshops, instructor trainings, and dance education programs. My work can also be experienced directly within companies and organizations I collaborate with, where my vision and concepts are implemented and carried forward in a sustainable way.

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me?
That creativity has no age limit. As long as I breathe, I create.
