What is the best thing that I love about my work?

I love the freedom of expression, to heal and connect with others. Music gives the freedom to feel. Through a song we can allow ourselves to be with our feelings.; cry, laugh, dance or dream. The time stands still and destiny changes.

What is my idea of happiness?

When the emptiness and restless feeling is no longer eating from inside, but piece and gratitude is surrounded by a joyful bliss.

What is my greatest fear? Any fear is created to overcome and learn. My greatest fear however, is a government that disrespects, locks people up and tortures.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself? Self-publicity and the fact that I am too diverse in my talents; I paint, sculpt, sing opera, jazz, cabaret, pop, my own songs, make outfits, teach Qigong. It is easier to just do one thing really well..

Which living persons in my profession do I most admire? I admire all classical singers, like Sumi Jo, Cecilia Bartoli, Jessye Norman, They worked so hard to have gone as far as they are. It requires so much discipline.

What is my greatest extravagance? Good wine. Life is too short to drink bad wine.

On what occasion would I lie? I would lie in official situations if I have to. To friends I will not.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work? The lack of money.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work? I think I am practically always happy when I sing, because I can be sad, angry, or however I feel and that makes me feel free and me.

If I could, what would I change about myself? Minor physical details

What is my greatest achievement in work? Never giving up!

Where would I most like to live? I am happy where I live, among my friends, but given the fact that I have to move house again and cannot afford another rental in Brighton I would say I’d love to live in a beautiful villa with a big garden in Brighton-area.

What is my most treasured possession? My children

What is my most marked characteristic? Mad. (If people are not a little mad there is something wrong with them)

What is my most inspirational location, in my city? That depends day to day. It can be the sea, the downs, an empty phone box, the darkened streets by night, or the home of a friend. 

What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city? I love any place with Live music, good food, good wine and people with the curiosity to talk to strangers.

What books influenced my life and how? I love to read several books from the same writers once I love one of their books: John Erving, George Orwell, I love their sense of humour and cynicism. Arthur Japin; a very good, profound Dutch writer. Mantak Chia, and other books by writers who share their wisdom about Taoism and Qigong.

You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day? Anything Salsa. I will dance if I still can.

Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? Betty Boop

Who are my heroes and heroines in real life? Dali Lama, Dolly Parton, IP-man. (haha, good combi).

Which movie would I recommend seeing once in a lifetime? Brasil

What role play stories in my life and work? Each song is a story and needs to be told/sung with utmost conviction.

What do the words ‘You are the storyteller of your own life’ to me? It might mean that I will have to start writing a book about my life. It will certainly not be a boring one.

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? Tim Lee Young is my great friend and keyboard-accompanist.

Which people or companies would I like to work with in 2021/2022?

I would love to work with anyone who can direct my original show and make me tour in theatres, act …

Cirque du Soleil..I also would like to co-write songs with people, and maybe work on stage plays together with an existing company.

Which people in my profession who can make a real difference in my creative career would i love to meet in 2021/2022?

Dolly Parton, Bjork, …..uuuuuh……

What project, in 2021/2022, am I looking forward to work on? I am currently a student at Brighton Fine art Uni and love being creative there.

I am also really looking forward at being an extra with a singing-role at Arborfield Studio’s.

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me? My persona. Some say I have the energy of 3 people in one. That is because I am passionate about life and all I do.
