What is the best thing that I love about my work?

The best thing that I love is when I got the chance to show my works to people. I hope my paintings can inspire others.

What is my idea of happiness?

Happiness is simple. Spending some time with your family, playing with your pet, every single moment you feel proud of yourself, the call of a long lost friend, eating ice cream and so on. Happiness is in you.

What is my greatest fear?

Losing someone. Losing someone that I love is my greatest fear.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?

I acknowledge that I hate being ignored. I find this my most deplorable quality because I fear it makes me appear weak. I pride myself on many things, but my need to be acknowledged has created many awkward situations in my life. It riddles me with self-doubt. It often turns easy social encounters into difficult and uncomfortable ones.

Oh there are so many of them! But my favorite artist is 马小伟 (@maxiaowei_artist)

Acrylic paints

When I help someone else.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?

I sometimes find my works are not as good as my expectations. I ended up abandoning or throwing them away.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work?

I’m always happy when I paint.

If I could, what would I change about myself?

I am very hard on myself; I’m ambitious, and I always want everything to be perfect so I get stressed out easily. I’m also inflexible with tasks I have set myself. I’m trying to change them, but it’s hard.

What is my greatest achievement in work?

Being appreciated by many people. Last July 2021 I finally made an art account to show my artworks and support other artists. I didn’t expect much, was just hoping my friends and classmates might support me. But after a few months, I made it to 2000 followers internationally! I am beyond thankful knowing people noticed and appreciated my art. I also made many new friends from all over the world.

Where would I most like to live?

Probably in a city. I like to see city lights at night.

What is my most treasured possession?

Anything that my parents and grandparents gave me.

What is my most marked characteristic?

I am very clumsy.

What is my most inspirational location, in my city?

Restaurants and cafes. They have unique aesthetics that sometimes inspire me.

Definitely at home. My mom cooks delicious meals.

I’ve read so many books, but honestly none of them influenced my life.

That means we have the freedom to write our own story. We can choose whatever we want to be and how our story will go.

Who’s my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?

I believe my grandparents are my greatest fans. I started drawing when I was just two or three years old. Whenever I went to their house I always draw on a piece of paper for fun, but they always ended up hanging on the wall. They always say my drawings are beautiful and wish to see them more. Grandparents play an irreplaceable role in my life.

I have no plans for working in companies, and I don’t have any specific people to work with right now.

What project, in 2022, am I looking forward to work on?

I have no big plans for this year, but I always look forward for commissions.

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me?

Everyone has a passion. Passion is what motivates us. Passion plays a huge role in happiness, otherwise we might get stuck in a routine and lose sight of the important things. Passion never dies, we just sometimes forget it.
