What is the best thing that I love about my work? I am a graphic designer and UX professional from India, living in Amsterdam. What I love most about my work is being able to convert ideas into visual reality!

What is my idea of happiness?

  • Being surrounded by loved ones.
  • Having a good night’s sleep.
  • Eating good food.
  • Being amidst nature.
  • Being at peace.

What is my greatest fear? It’s funny, but I am in my 20’s and still afraid of the dark.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself? Overthinking.

Which living persons in my profession do I most admire? Dieter Rams

What is my greatest extravagance? Sneakers.

On what occasion would I lie? I’m a terrible liar! My face always gives me away.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work? Working for “exposure”.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work? I love to design so work-wise I’ve always been happy.

If I could, what would I change about myself? Overthinking.

What is my greatest achievement in work? When I see people interacting with my designs and they have a big smile on their face. Makes my day!

Where would I most like to live? Anywhere, close to my loved ones.

What is my most treasured possession? It’s a painting gifted to me by my grandfather, Prosenjit Dowerah. He was one of the pioneering forces of modern art in Assam. This painting is extremely close to my heart because I later learned that he was facing financial difficulties and was offered a lot for this painting yet he didn’t sell it, for he wanted me to have it.

What is my most marked characteristic? Being authentic.

What is my most inspirational location, in my city? Amsterdam is a beautiful city. Every part of it feels like a postcard personified! Inside the city, I mostly go to Rembrandt park and Sloterplas. Outside the city, I like the Zandvoort beach.

What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city? I have a lot of favorites in this regard. I’ll namedrop a few –

  • Staring At Jacob – American brunch bar with great food and drinks
  • Ashoka Centrum – Authentic Indian food and great service
  • Himalayan Kitchen – Authentic Nepalese momos
  • Full Moon Garden – Amazing dumplings and Asian food
  • Café Cook – Amazing terrace, authentic Dutch food, and great service
  • Bartack – Great drinks and good food

What books influenced my life and how? The Secret by Rhonda Byrne and Who Moved My Cheese? by Dr. Spencer Johnson. I believe both these books have taught me the power to deal with life and change.

Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? Princess Leia.

Who are my heroes and heroines in real life? My mom for raising us two daughters single-handedly in a patriarchal society. And my grandma for being the wind beneath our wings.

Which movie would I recommend to see once in a lifetime? Star Wars.

What role plays art in my life and work? It is an integral part of me.

What do the words ‘You are the storyteller of your own life’ to me? It’s your life and you can decide which stories to tell and how to tell.

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? My younger sister and my husband.

Which people or companies would I like to work with in 2022? I would love to work with local Amsterdam artists and museums.

Which people in my profession who can make a real difference in my creative career would I love to meet in 2022? I would love to meet Chris Do and Tobias van Schneider.

What project, in 2022, am I looking forward to work on? I look forward to building my own brand.
