What is the best thing that I love about my work?

First off, the main thing I love about my work is that I am writing about the only thing I have ever truly loved, which is movies and TV. I love turning on a movie or TV show that transports me to another world and now I get to create my own worlds which will go on to live among the worlds that I have been to.

What is my idea of happiness?

Happiness for me is to feel balanced, grateful, and at peace with every aspect of my life. Feeling safe, loved, respected, and confident fulfilling my true purpose is all I need to feel comfort, and comfort is happiness.

What is my greatest fear?

My greatest fear is not finding and maintaining comfort and feeling like I have a purpose.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?

My biggest inner challenge is trusting the process of life and self doubt.

Which living people in my profession do I most admire?

My screenwriting mentor and coach, Brooks Elms; My accountability partner, Dallas Faulkner; Screenwriter and Director, Kenneth Lonergran.

What is my greatest extravagance?

I love to travel, explore, and have adventures.

On what occasion would I lie?

I am truthful to a fault, so I have learned that it’s better to lie when I know nothing good can come from telling the truth.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?

I LOVE collaborating and co-writing because the isolation of writing alone is my major challenge.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work?

I am most happy when my co-writer and I hit a creative flow.

If I could, what would I change about myself?

Finding and committing to a routine that aids in my creativity and flow in my daily activities.

What is my greatest achievement in work?

Developing a TV series based on one of the most historical pieces of literature.

Where would I most like to live?

Southern California – to be close to my sister, nephew, and niece.

What is my most treasured possession?

My two state championship rings I earned as a high school cross country coach.

What is my most marked characteristic?

Loyalty and Perseverance 

What is my most inspirational location, in my city?

Willis Library at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. 

What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city?

I don’t really have one in (my city). BUT one of my favorite places I visit is World Famous in Pacific Beach, CA.

What books influenced my life and how?

The Bible, the Iliad, the Odyssey – I loved the fact that the stories are so fantastical while being written at the time people truly believed in them. And with the Bible, still do.

You Only Die Once. What music would I listen to on my last day?

A variety of classical piano and guitar.

Dean Winchester in Supernatural

What role play stories in my life and work?

English and literature was the only subject I liked in school, and I excelled at it. I received the English academic awards all four years in high school. When I went to college, I majored in English literature because it was the only thing I knew that I was great at, which led me to teaching high school English for 10 years. When COVID hit, I decided to follow my true passion which was writing and TV/Films.

What do the words ‘You are the storyteller of your own life’ mean to me?

This phrase is the theme to my life, therefore, it means I am the main character in my life while God and the Universe write and guide me to my ultimate destiny.

What project, in 2023, am I looking forward to working on?

My current project is further adapting The Canterbury Tales into a TV series as well as another drama feature.

Hopefully getting a completed script produced as well as The Canterbury Tales.

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me?

If you are truly passionate about something, it will never retire, so you should pursue whatever it is you are passionate about because if you don’t, you will never be as happy as you would have been if you did.
